I'm excited to share some groundbreaking news from the world of AI and defense technology! Shield AI, a pioneering startup in autonomous aircraft and drone software, has just achieved a remarkable milestone. The company's valuation has skyrocketed to $5 billion, nearly doubling from its previous valuation of $2.8 billion just a year ago. This surge in valuation comes as part of a new fundraising round, where Shield AI is set to raise approximately $200 million. What's particularly interesting is the diverse group of investors involved, including: Tech giants: Palantir Aerospace leaders: Airbus and L3 Harris Venture capital firms: Andreessen Horowitz, Point72 Ventures, and Riot Ventures Shield AI's core product, the "Hivemind" software, is truly revolutionary. It enables drones and aircraft to operate autonomously without GPS, communications, or human pilots. This technology is already being adopted by various companies, including traditional defense contractors. The increasing interest in defense technology startups like Shield AI reflects the changing landscape of national security. With ongoing conflicts and geopolitical tensions, there's a growing reliance on advanced AI products for military applications. This development is not just a win for Shield AI, but a testament to the rising importance of Silicon Valley in shaping the future of defense technology. It's an exciting time for innovation in this sector, and I'm eager to see how these advancements will contribute to our national security and technological progress. What are your thoughts on this intersection of AI, defense, and investment? How do you see this trend impacting the future of military technology and strategy? #AIinDefense #TechInnovation #NationalSecurity #StartupSuccess

I just wanted to post about this same article about Anduril Industries, but this is a pretty great summary already. #defenseinnovation #defensetech #defenseindustry
Since 2021, $130 billion in venture capital has flowed into defense technology across sectors including AI, unmanned systems and hypersonics. Just a decade ago, the concept of a breed of funds dedicated solely to the mission was implausible. Now, we have a demonstrated formula that can make investing in defense tech work: the ability to generate returns + appetite from LPs + rapid acquisition tools + willingness of government to consider new business models (cheaper, fungible tech vs too-big-to fail systems) -- none of which existed en masse back then. Here's to the Tech Bros - it's about time. #innovation #govmatesnATIon https://lnkd.in/ezP9pKdk

Big Problems can be fixed by very simple approaches 🔓 And you might have noticed that too! So, I recently worked with a highly futuristic Drone Capture Project, with a mind-blowing concept to automatic load-reload the capture system. The target was to explore an appropriate mechanism, easy-to-manufacture, and scale-up-to-size. I proposed this idea and boom 🔥 It worked! Do you have any other relevant idea? Share please then.

This is a great interview from Toby, and shows the importance of backing founders capable of identifying and solving pressing, real-world problems with novel solutions, regardless of the industry they’re in.
This week we published in full an interview with founder Yaroslav Azhnyuk; it was too powerful and important not to. We encourage you to read it in full for more on his journey from Petcube to TheFourthLaw.ai, stats on drone development, his prediction that full FPV drone autonomy is imminent, and the why behind it all: 'All of that innovation basically should be seen as investment in making our Western democracies and our rules-based world order stronger. And again, if we don't do that or if we are doing that slower than the autocracies on the world map, such as Russia, Iran and, China, then we're doing a disservice to both our ancestors and to our kids, to future generations. We cannot allow that to happen.' https://lnkd.in/eFr_k-hn
