While the EU Parliamentary elections take place, we continue to see the rise of hatred and the politics of fear around the world. During the biggest electoral year in history, it has never been more timely to consider our relationship with freedom of speech. To shine a light on this, rising star director Giordano Maestrelli, created 'The First Speech' in collaboration with INNOCEAN, Stink Berlin, and Reporters Without Borders (RSF). Pleased to see the continued traction of the campaign, now highlighted in shots as a Cannes Lions contender. Watch it below. https://lnkd.in/dtF2eQWX

In the middle of intense election coverage, Calm took an unconventional route—airing a 30-second ad with no sound, just serene silence. This unexpected choice resonated with viewers, proving that sometimes the simplest messages make the biggest impact. For marketers, it’s a reminder that strategic placement can shape the entire message. Next time you’re planning an ad, think about the audience’s mindset and environment. Often, the context is the best starting point for creativity.

🇺🇲 In a typical presidential election year, about 50% of eligible voters cast a ballot for the president. But a third or more of these voters don’t bother checking the boxes for down-ballot contests. Political marketing is therefore all the more important for down-ballot candidates — like governors, state legislature, judges, etc. Read six reasons why every down-ballot campaign should take advantage of CTV advertising in their political marketing strategy here: https://hubs.li/Q02JCKZb0

✨ Sometimes, less is more in marketing. The Calm App reminded us of this timeless truth with its brilliant Election Night Campaign. While most brands fought for attention with flashy ads and loud messaging, Calm took a different approach: 30 seconds of pure silence. The company purchased 30-second ad blocks on CNN, ABC, and Comedy Central from 5:30 p.m. to 1:15 a.m. ET on election night. Their message? Simple yet profound: "We bought this ad space to give you 30 seconds of silence. Yep, just silence." The screen remained quiet, followed by the words: "You're welcome," and the Calm logo. https://lnkd.in/eqacDk4i This minimalist strategy cuts through the noise, offering viewers a moment of peace during a high-stress event. It was a bold move that aligned perfectly with Calm’s mission—helping people find tranquility in the chaos. At Fart (Freelancers Are Really Talented), we live by this principle: thoughtful creativity over noise. Because sometimes, doing less can make the biggest impact. #MarketingStrategy #CreativeAdvertising #CalmApp #ElectionCampaign #LessIsMore

Who regulates election ads? Brand ads are regulated by the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA), who make sure ads in the UK stick to the rules. You might think the ASA regulates political ads, too - but they don’t. That’s because the ASA is a non-government organisation funded by the advertising and media industry, so it’s not the right authority to lead political advertising regulation.
