Congrats to Norma, Rebecca and Carrie from the Liffey Hub who shone brightly last week on Ireland AM, promoting the work of the Connections Arts Centre and their TY Programme. The Creative TY Connections Programme is a creative, innovative, education programme that brings Transition Year Students and adults with intellectual disabilities together to develop their interpersonal, digital and life skills. With four modules Every Day IT, Money Management, Upskilling for Employment and Sustainable Steps, the programme is based on a buddy system between TY students and day attenders from disability services, including Stewarts Care. Speaking on national TV, Stewarts Support Staff, Lynda added "Education is key in everything, and with that comes the Community inclusion piece with the TY Programme. As a Support Staff, I cannot say enough about the TY students [..] and the confidence building of the people we support in Stewarts Care, people are walking taller, dipping their toe, realising I can do this, learning about money management, learning about themselves, [...] perhaps getting a job in the future" And Norma closed the segment in a great interview with Deric Hartigan "I love the programme, my favourite thing is the money (money management) and now I am getting better at that". https://lnkd.in/eA3tF5a7 (*Scroll down to Video 90 or search Connections Arts to find the full segment on the Virgin Media Player)
