Each year on October 15, Global Handwashing Day highlights the importance of handwashing with soap and water, especially during key times throughout the day. Many germs that can make people sick are spread when we don't wash our hands with soap and clean, running water. Studies show that handwashing education can reduce: 🔹the number of people who get sick with diarrhoea by about 23%–40% 🔹diarrheal illness in people with weakened immune systems by about 58% 🔹respiratory illnesses, like colds, in the general population by about 16%–21%. That is why handwashing is so important, especially after using the bathroom, when preparing food, before eating, and after coughing, sneezing or blowing your nose. #GlobalHandWashingDay #HandHygiene #Handwashing #Health #HealthandWellbeing

"Why Are Clean Hands Still Important?" 🧼💧 Handwashing is essential to maintaining good health, and today—Handwashing Day—is a day worth celebrating. Clean hands are not just about hygiene; they are about well-being, productivity, and the ability to reach our full potential. By washing our hands before and after meals, we reduce the risk of infections and ensure that we stay healthy to carry out our daily activities. Healthy individuals lead to healthy communities, and it all starts with this simple, powerful habit. When we wash our hands the right way, with soap and water, we significantly lower the chance of spreading harmful bacteria and viruses. This small act is an investment in our health—and in the health of those around us. Let’s make handwashing a habit that we practice every day, not just today. By doing so, we don’t just protect ourselves; we contribute to the overall health of our communities. 🌍 Let’s celebrate Handwashing Day by recommitting to this essential practice and encouraging others to do the same. #HandWashingDay #GoodHealth #HygieneMatters #CommunityHealth #PreventInfections #HealthForAll

15 October is Global Handwashing Day, a day dedicated to something as simple as … washing our hands 👐 – one of the best ways to stay healthy and minimise the spread of illnesses. Handwashing is a priority every day where I work. You, too, can make it a point to protect yourself and others by washing regularly – especially before eating and preparing food, or after using the bathroom. As parents, we can also lead by example and teach our children the importance of washing their hands after blowing their nose, coughing or sneezing. If soap and water aren’t available, use a hand sanitiser with at least 60% alcohol to help keep those germs at bay. I’m not encouraging becoming obsessed with handwashing, but do make it a part of your daily routine. 🧼 #GlobalHandwashingDay
