The Workplace Gender Equality Agency released Australia’s 2023-24 Gender Equality Scorecard yesterday, and I was pleased to join a panel with Mary Wooldridge CEO of WGEA and Chalina Keeble from AGL, facilitated by James Fazzino on behalf of the Champions of Change Coalition to share EY’s progress on closing the gap. The Gender Pay Gap is a crucial metric all leaders must face. By closing it, employers are set to unlock stronger business performance, bolder decision making, healthier cultures and retention of top talent. Like many, EY Australia’s journey to pay parity isn’t over - but with targeted initiatives and active leadership right across our business, we strive forward with this mission front of mind. 🎯 While some people attack people like me for fiercely advocating for more Women participation and equal opportunities for women, the Australian Government is considering the introduction of workplace targets to accelerate progress towards gender balance. 🙌 Senator Larissa Waters recently queried the Workplace Gender Equality Agency (WGEA) about how these targets will be shaped for employers with 500 or more employees. WGEA CEO, the Hon. Mary Wooldridge, provided insights into the process and the potential impact of these targets. 👩💼 The question is, how does this take us closer to ensuring gender balance? Dr Leonora Risse's recent literature review explored this and highlights how targets can be a powerful tool in driving change. 📚 Read the full review here: What are your thoughts on workplace targets for gender equality? Have you seen them in action in your organization? I'd like to hear your experiences and insights in the comments below. 💬 #GenderEquality #WomenInLeadership #DiversityAndInclusion #EqualOpportunity #BreakingBarriers #EPIC

Today, DCA’s Interim CEO, Chris Lamb, presented at the public hearing for the Workplace Gender Equality Amendment Bill 2024. DCA supports this Bill because progress towards gender equality in Australian workplaces has been too slow. By requiring larger organisations (500+ employees) to set measurable targets, this legislation aims to drive real change. At the hearing, DCA highlighted the critical importance of ensuring workplaces consider gender equality measures that are inclusive of all women, particularly those most marginalised at work. Why this matters: ✅ measurable targets drive accountability and meaningful change. ✅ gender-equal workplaces enhance innovation, collaboration, and overall performance. This Bill is a significant step forward in ensuring all employees can thrive at work. 🔗 Learn more about DCA’s submission in response to the Workplace Gender Equality Amendment: https://ow.ly/TbTe50UKNvl #GenderEquality #DiversityAndInclusion #Advocacy #DiversityCouncilAustralia #WorkplaceInclusion #WomenInLeadership #InclusionMatters
