The Football Association (FA) has launched a four-year, landmark strategy to grow and develop grassroots football in England. Called 'A Thriving Grassroots Game', the new strategy aims to support sustainable growth over the next four years, with projections anticipating a further 220,000 new players across 15,000 new teams by 2028 and includes a commitment to create 300 new 3G pitches. “The strategy has been created for the game, by the game, and is an important moment for the future of grassroots football in England,” says FA director of football development, James Kendall. #football #participation #facilityinvestment #3G #artificialturf Read more: https://bit.ly/3ON6EZn

This is HUGE news! As much as I believe that the move to professionalization is needed to move the sport forward, the lack of clubs within certain areas/regions is concerning. As someone who is involved in netball in Scotland, I fear this could have huge implications. Not only at an elite level, but particularly at grassroots, through player pathways, and for umpires and coaches. I am excited to see what the new era of netball brings, however I do hope there are plans in the near future to ensure that the Super League is accessible for and representative of the whole of the UK (including Scotland, NI, the South West, etc). #NetballSuperLeague #SportDevelopment
Ready to embark on a new era of transformational change 💪 Following a robust tender process over the past eight months, we’re excited to confirm the eight successful teams set to compete in the relaunched Netball Super League from 2025: 🏐 Birmingham Panthers, LexisNexis Cardiff Dragons, Leeds Rhinos, London Mavericks, London Pulse Netball Super League Team, Loughborough Lightning [Loughborough Sport], Manchester Thunder and Nottingham Forest Netball [Nottingham Forest Football Club] 🏐 The eight clubs have been selected due to their ability to deliver the on and off court advancements needed to raise the standards of the league. With powerful new ownership and investment models coming into the league, the new-look competition will be built on stronger foundations as it embarks on a 10-year journey to full professionalisation. For the upcoming season, 50% of games will be played at major arenas across the country, whilst all games will be available to watch from home. August is the time that University #clearing campaigns collide with the #football #transferwindow. The team UCFB has been unbelievable in their efforts - some of the best campaigning I've seen in #HigherEducation (check out their channels). The alignment means a trip to #Salford to work with the BBC Sport team, to unpick what has been a complex transfer window so far. Of course influenced by; ⚽ Regulation ⚽ Concern over what happened last season for Everton Football Club & Nottingham Forest. ⚽ Reduced cash flow, and ⚽ A lack of true value. For once we are now seeing clubs balance their books. Selling before buying and, for some clubs, finally #negotiating properly. More on the 'Art of Negotiation' with VSI Executive Education in #September. The key timestamp is 5m and 25seconds (if you want to avoid my bit). https://lnkd.in/enJY7Ezk

🇫🇷 Despite the challenges faced by the Ligue 1 in recent years, especially when it comes to the market for sports media rights, French clubs should rely on one of their traditional strengths. That being their capacity to develop young talent. 💰 While a model based on consistently selling the best talent is not sustainable, it offers a foundation upon which the league can build a more robust financial strategy. Since the summer transfer window of 2018/19, Ligue 1 has distinguished itself among the “Big Five” European leagues by maintaining a positive net transfer balance. With a net surplus of €218.8 million stands well ahead the Bundesliga (net negative balance of €83.7 million), La Liga (€-539.9 million), Serie A (€-1.1 billion) and the Premier League (€-8.1 billion). ⏳ During this transitory period, the league may also attract new investment. The devaluation of clubs and the availability of talent presents attractive opportunities for long-term financial gains. 🗞️ If you want to read more about the challenges of Ligue 1, check out our article: https://lnkd.in/dZmQsyBR #footballfinance #football #ligue1

In light of the recent news surrounding a new Welsh League Cup competition, my Howard Kennedy LLP colleague Joel Leigh and I have explored the proposal in the article below, which aims to create a direct pathway to European football for participating clubs. The initiative is currently under review, with legal and regulatory considerations being carefully examined to ensure compliance with both national and international football governing bodies. #WelshFootball #WelshCupProposal #EuropeanFootball #FootballRegulations #SportsLaw #Regulation #Football #FootballAssociation #PremierLeague #Sponsorship #Broadcasting #Advertising #Governance #Compliance #UEFA #FA #Sport #Football #Soccer #DataProtection #IntellectualProperty #HealthandSafety #Revenue #Financial
