REFLECTIONS ON A PROFESSIONAL LIFE EXPERIENCE IN BRAZIL In 2012, I embarked on a professional journey that transformed my life. As a member of the Iber-Oleff team, I began spending several periods in Brazil, working in one of our factories, having flown 44 times to Brazil. This experience was enriching, both professionally and personally. Being warmly welcomed by the local team facilitated my adaptation. In Salto Sao Paulo, I made lasting friendships and immersed myself in the local culture. Iber-Oleff fostered a strong sense of community among Portugueses and local employees. A memorable visit was that of a journalist to our factory, who captured the essence of our experience in an article that still resonates with me. We discussed the challenges and rewards of working in such a diverse environment, reflecting the resilience and adaptability required in our careers. Facing challenges like linguistic differences, different cultures, and work practices was an opportunity for growth. I learned to be more flexible and to value different perspectives. Today, I see how this experience transformed me. The collaboration between teams strengthened professional ties and created lasting friendships. I thank everyone who shared this experience with me, for the opportunity, and the Brazilian colleagues for their warm reception. #CultureShock - That one got me! I was born and raised in Croatia. When I was 11 years old, my parents moved to Germany. My journey was marked by cultural challenges and surprises. But it wasn't until I returned to Zagreb at the age of 20 to study that I was hit by culture shock fully. It was a time of change, adaptation, and coming of age. I never thought I would experience culture shock in my homeland - but that's exactly what happened. I was prepared for many things, but not for that! The crazy part is, I wasn’t aware of it until few years ago. Now, years later, I reflect on this experience and recognize how influential it was for me. Culture shock is a topic that is often underestimated but affects us all when we enter new environments. Additionally, the transition to a new company can trigger culture shock just like an international move. Often, unexpected differences in work styles, communication methods, or corporate values challenge employees, making them feel like outsiders. As companies, we can do a lot to ease this transition and create a supportive environment. From targeted onboarding programs to intercultural training, we can help employees integrate faster and feel more comfortable. I invite you to share your perspectives. Dolac is the most visited and the best known farmer's market in Zagreb, well known for its combination of traditional open market with stalls and a sheltered market below. The daily market, on a raised square a set of stairs up from "Jelačić", has been the city’s major trading place since 1930. Farmers from surrounding villages come to sell their home-made foodstuffs and very fresh fruit and vegetables.

There are lot of wisdom sayings about life, success, job.. trying to remember at least one about job (without google help or my notes) and the one which comes to my mind - It does not matter how slowly you go as long as you do not stop (Confucius). From my personal perspective, life is a journey and journeys could be very different - one part of it could be easy and smooth, another part could be bumpy and challenging, third thrilling and rewording and no matter what I want to take small steps and move forward in this journey. Not because I must, but because I want to explore. Today we are celebrating 3 years Bday at #GuidehouseLithuania and I am counting my 3rd year anniversary in this journey too. Company which was not known in Lithuania market 3 year ago now connects more than 400 employees, ideas which we had back in 2021 now became a reality, and my personal fears, which I had while stepping as a new leader into this role evolved to a new fear. But still one thing remained the same – its’ interesting for me to explore new things – in organization, in people, in myself, environment I am at, dynamics we all operate and so on. And I believe as long as you continue exploring new ideas and activities, you'll be enriching your life. 3 years of enrichments, what else I could wish for?! 😊 Maybe additional 3 to go and see what are these next chapters in the life of #Guidehouse will bring. 🌍 Reflecting on an Incredible European Journey 🌍 Just wrapped up the longest time away from work and family since my transformative month at the Esalen Institute last year. When my friend suggested extending my academic trip to Sweden with two more weeks traveling around Europe, I hesitated. With several coaching engagements in progress and ongoing negotiations for fractional and team coaching gigs, it felt crazy to hit pause. But then I recalled the profound impact of my time at Esalen—the growth, the inspiration, and the lasting mindfulness practices I adopted. So, I thought, "Why not?" and booked my flights. And I’m so glad I did. This journey has been nothing short of transformative. The lessons and inspiration I gained have made me a better coach and leader. 🇸🇪 Sweden: Witnessing a culture that prioritizes everyone’s needs sparked insights into creating inclusive environments. I marveled at how companies like Volvo, H&M, IKEA, and Spotify have dominated by democratizing access to luxury cars, fashion, furniture, and music. Plus, I learned valuable lessons about fostering collaborative work cultures and the perils of ignoring dissent (Vasa, anyone?). 🇪🇸 Barcelona: Gaudi's masterpieces taught me the power of iteration and the beauty of evolving over time.
