I had the privilege of attending The Lodging Conference last week and honestly, Jenna Walters article sums it up perfectly! A synopsis of her article below, with a few of my personal experiences sprinkled in of course 😏 🚪 Hotel Transactions Heating Up! Industry veterans predict a surge of deals into 2025, fueled by fewer new builds and upcoming interest rate cuts. The end of this year is the start of the snowball forming... When you take into account the election uncertainty coming to a close, a huge amount of anticipated refinancing ($5.8 BILLION worth of US hotel securitized loans coming due the remainder of this year for context), and brands no longer being strung along for their PIPs; For investors, there appear to be exciting prospects on the horizon. #hotelinvestments 🧑🍳 Labor Shortages Persist Hiring and retention difficulties continue, especially in major cities, driving rising labor costs. Balancing staffing needs and budgets remains an issue. I'm dealing with this still, are you? #hospitalitystaffing 🤖 Smart Tech With a Human Touch When I entered the industry full time 7 years ago from Uber, the tech stack hospitality players were willing to invest in was a bit light. The last couple of years have proven that I can no longer make that statement. Technology continues to transform hospitality, but an emphasis on human connection is crucial. Leaders are focused on using AI to assist staff instead of replacing them -- "The AI should never touch the guest". Achieving this balance can elevate the guest experience. 🛏️ Extended Stays Dominate This is probably the most obvious, but truest statement I can make coming out of the conference... The extended stay sector shows absolutely NO signs of slowing down. With new developments tailored toward hospitals, universities, and infrastructure projects, this sector seems poised for ongoing expansion. 🏨 Unique Travel Experiences If they're not there for a long time, they're there for a unique one! Today’s travelers seek one-of-a-kind memories. I feel like every new development I see being announced is a #CurioCollection or a #Taspestry. Developers are tapping into the major brand reservation systems, but to stand out, are incorporating local culture, art, and partnerships. This experiential trend allows properties to showcase distinctive strengths. I’d love to hear your perspectives in the comments below! What did you learn? What was your favorite part of the conference? https://lnkd.in/gRKtuvVa

2025 Hotel Market Trends: Houston’s Time to Shine! 🌟 As we look ahead, the 2025 U.S. hotel market is shaping up to be anything but predictable! With Houston poised to benefit from convention center closures in other Texas cities, the question is: which markets will stand tall, and which might stumble? 🏙️ Hotels, it’s time to flex those competitive muscles! Here’s a quick overview of what’s happening in key hotel markets as we approach 2025: 1. Houston: Positioned to shine due to convention center closures in nearby Texas cities, Houston is set to attract more meetings and events, boosting occupancy and revenues. 🌟 2. Dallas/Fort Worth: Facing challenges from the ripple effect of shifting convention business, this market may need creative strategies to maintain its competitive edge. 🛫 3. Austin: Known for its tech and cultural draw, Austin could hold steady but might see some impact as event organizers shift focus. 🎸 4. San Antonio: Could face competition from Houston’s rise, especially in convention-driven demand. Smart operators will need to differentiate with unique offerings. 🏰 5. Nashville: The city is experiencing an oversupply of hotel rooms, which may challenge operators in achieving desired occupancy and revenue levels. 6. San Francisco: The market continues to underperform, with recent data showing an 8.3% decline in RevPAR, indicating ongoing challenges in attracting hotel guests. Key Insight: Houston’s gains highlight the importance of agility and adaptability in navigating evolving market conditions. What makes a meeting venue unforgettable? It’s more than just space. It’s the experience. Our very own, Cathy Herring, CAE, recently shared her insights in Association Convention & Facilities Magazine as part of their 2024 Association Meeting Planner Update for Arizona. Her story isn’t just about selecting a venue; it’s about creating an environment where 300 attendees felt valued, engaged, and catered to at every turn. For last summer’s event, Cathy chose the Arizona Grand Resort & Spa, a AAA Four Diamond property renowned for its all-suite accommodations and 120,000 square feet of flexible meeting space. But the decision wasn’t just about the logistics. It was about partnerships. Why does this matter? Because at KCA, we believe the heart of an event lies not just in what attendees see, but in how they feel. Our work at KCA is anchored in power of thoughtful planning, strong partnerships, and not just meeting needs — but anticipating them. Have you had a venue experience that left a lasting impression? Let’s talk about what made it exceptional. Because as Cathy proves, when planners and venues work hand-in-hand, the result isn’t just an event; it’s a moment that lingers. #KCA #EventPlanning #AssociationMeetings #ArizonaGrand #MeetingSuccess #Leadership https://lnkd.in/gX48v9gC
