Did you know mammography facilities in the #UnitedStates must inform patients whether they have dense or non-dense breast tissue? Regular mammograms play an important role in early detection, but another lesser-known benefit of mammograms is that they can also help women determine if they have dense breast tissue. Providing this kind of information not only offers hope for earlier diagnosis but can also help facilitate important conversations around personal risk factors and supplemental imaging options available to provide more #personalized #breastcare. Shocking Stat: #Women Travel 3x Farther for Supplemental #Breast #Imaging! Did you know women travel over 22 miles on average for supplemental breast #ultrasounds compared to just 8 miles for #mammograms? This new research from the American Journal of Preventive Medicine highlights a significant access issue impacting #breastcancerscreening. Here's why this matters: - #Distance is a #barrier to #care: Traveling long distances can discourage women from getting necessary follow-up imaging, potentially delaying diagnoses. Equity concerns: Less-advantaged areas face an even more significant disadvantage, with the distance to supplemental imaging for ultrasound/MRIs reaching 23.2 miles! At iSono Health, we aim to catch cancer early and prevent deaths. We believe all women deserve convenient access to quality care. This study reinforces the need for solutions like bringing contrast-enhanced mammography (CEM) closer to home. What do you think about this issue? Let's discuss ways to ensure equal access to comprehensive breast cancer screening! #BreastCancerAwareness #HealthcareEquity #iSonoHealth Thank you AuntMinnie.com Amerigo Allegretto Smita Asrani

The next time you get your mammogram report and see that your results are normal - keep reading to find out if you have dense breasts. If you have dense breasts get the facts on what that means. Check the last mammography report you received, you may already have this information.

#Mammogram callbacks happen too often, especially for women with dense breast tissue. Reasons for callbacks include suspected masses, calcifications, and asymmetry. Younger women and women with dense breast tissue are more likely to receive callbacks and while most callbacks are false alarms and do not indicate #breastcancer, they can cause significant anxiety. New technology, like our QTScan, exists to transform this paradigm by reducing the non-cancer recall rates by 16%. Our technology is harmless, compassionate, and accurate. With the QTScan, women have a choice in their care and a superior patient experience. MRIs should be used with caution for patients who need them for screening purposes. This is an image of an MRI with arrows pointing to lesions which may not all have been detected by mammogram. While MRIs are better at detecting breast lesions, not all breast lesions need to be detected. MRIs often lead to additional unnecessary biopsies or false positives, needless anxiety especially if an MRI biopsy is needed, more contrast exposure, and even unnecessary mastectomies. People with dense breasts SHOULD get 3D mammograms with ultrasounds. #breastcancer #women #womenshealth

Dense breast tissue can hide or disguise tumors on mammograms, so I’m encouraged to see the U.S. FDA’s new regulations—starting today—requiring breast density notification for women who receive mammograms. These reporting changes will help ensure women are informed about the increased risks associated with dense breast tissue and can get access to information about supplemental screening that may help find cancer. This includes technologies like Invenia ABUS 2.0, which is designed specifically for dense breast imaging, and may lead to earlier detection and more personalized care. Paper out! 🚨 ''The willingness of women with dense breasts to re-attend an ongoing MRI screening study is high. However, emphasis should be placed on improving the MRI experience to increase the re-attendance rate if widespread supplemental MRI screening is implemented.'' Together with Sophie van Grinsven and colleagues we present the results of our re-attendance study of the DENSE trial. Make sure to read them now: https://lnkd.in/eiMqY5n9 #MRI #Screening #BreastCancer
