@studiogonzalobascunan presents #MDW24 - Carding Collectibles- a collection of contemporary furniture and lighting designs objects crafted from recycle cotton. Explores cotton as a recycle material which gives shape to the pieces directly from the material itself, with particular attention to its texture, properties and intrinsic character of eco-conscious design. The installation is conceived around the play of colors which are sometimes linear, soft and organic, always enriched by a circular economy approach. The contrast between the surfaces, the carded finished and the ability to achieve shades with different color gradients contribute to create an aesthetic and formal balance into a maximum maximalismo. Tadao Ando once said--"the walls and the floor come together as a monolith and hence disappear and what you’re left with is just the space to experience." The design intent comes to question the nature of space, volume, and perception to become an element of exploration. The store challenges conventional room definitions to craft an intimate, homely atmosphere within even the most expansive exhibition settings. The space's coherence is emphasized by a sprawling, unifying ceiling while floating walls form visual frames. Through an interplay of light and shadow, the store guides its visitors on a sensory journey, inviting them to engage with each furniture piece on a deeper level. Such architectural interventions alter the physical, sensorial, and temporal experience to immerse a person in the explorative urge and glance through the bespoke pieces from The brand. TL;DR: Evolving from a previous collaboration, the design of this curated Hampstead family corporates new elements to suit the family’s changing lifestyle, enhancing flow, connectivity, and functionality. RTFA: Drawing inspiration from the clients’ growing collection of contemporary art, each piece was thoughtfully curated to harmonise with the home’s minimalist aesthetic, reflecting the family’s evolving tastes and passions. This bespoke design showcases the perfect blend of functionality and artistic expression, establishing a space that is as visually stunning as it is practical. The design philosophy centred on clean lines, uncluttered spaces, and a restrained, neutral colour palette. These elements work together to create a tranquil, modern environment that maximizes natural light and spatial flow. Building on a previous collaboration with the family, this project introduced innovative design elements to align with their dynamic lifestyle.
