Meeting Mrithika Munukoti was like finding a twin flame—both of us coming from the corporate world but sharing a profound passion for music. What made our conversation truly special was how naturally we connected on so many levels. We talked at length about how volunteering and event planning shaped our professional growth, allowing us to develop key skills like leadership, communication, and adaptability. Our conversation went deeper into the current independent music scenario, and it was refreshing to hear how much our perspectives aligned. We discussed how independent artists today face unique challenges, from visibility to financial sustainability, and how the generational acceptance of music is changing the way people discover and consume it. There’s an increasing demand for authenticity, and we both believe that independent artists have a powerful role in this shift. As we talked about these issues, we realized that we both aspire to become a bridge—raising awareness about the importance of independent music and helping artists apply strategies that will empower them to grow sustainably and organically. It’s inspiring to meet someone who shares the same vision of using our professional backgrounds and passion for music to create a more inclusive and supportive ecosystem for independent artists. #IndieIndustry #TamilIndependentArtists #MusicSustainability #EmpoweringIndependentArtists #MusicCommunity #InclusiveMusic

It’s easy to point fingers at the system, but the reality is that we already have enough number of independent artists to create real change—if the will is there. The platforms already exist, but the mindset shift is what’s missing. The underlying issue is that many independent artists still desire to be part of the major label system they criticize. We still see validation in signing that deal, believing it’s the ultimate marker of success. That contradiction is holding back the potential to build something radically different. If independent artists truly want change, they need to own the fact that they are the music industry. Building a the future we want means letting go of the idea that success equals being absorbed into the major label machine. It means prioritizing real connection, fandom and sustainability over traditional industry benchmarks. The power is already in our hands—it just takes the courage to use it. #music #musicindustry #independentartist

Most businesses have stopped moving to their own music. Instead, they wait for examples and instructions and proof of what “works.” They watch left to right and try to emulate music that is already fading. By looking for security they have learned how to march, but they have forgotten how to dance. #change #changleadership #innovation
