My name is David Baldus and I proudly served in the United States Marine CORE for over 15 years. My journey in the military has shaped who I am today. It instilled in me a sense of discipline, integrity, and leadership. After my time in the military, I started working for Simmons and right away I could see that Simmons had a strong commitment to its people. Really made everybody feel like part of the team. And that with that cohesiveness is exactly what I was looking for when I was exiting the military. The biggest thing that I like to talk to veterans. About is the culture here at Simmons because it's so closely related to that culture that you have in the military and they're like, ohh, wow. Like this is a place where I can truly feel that pride of belonging. Once again, the values here at Simmons, they, they align very strongly with the same values that military members have every day. Be curious, take action. Those are very similar to adaptability and being able to be an innovative and being curious and and trying new ways to accomplish. Commission or or a tackle an objective, right? And you get to see that here all the time because we're allowed to be curious. And Simmons loves that innovation, putting people first. We always put our Marines first. There's a saying that I always heard in the Marine Corps. It was a mission first. Marines always. That basically just means that even though the mission is the top priority, taking care of your people, it should be the same priority. And you see that in action every day here at Simmons. Many of the skills that we obtain in the military. Are vital in the civilian workforce, their supply chain management and the military. We have that here at Simmons as well. Those that held different leadership style billets in the military, they translate great into our operations fields. You have HVAC, you have electricians, you have all these different things that we do here. Simmons as well. One of the things that I realized this is core principles of justice, judgment, decisiveness, integrity, dependability, tact initiative. We have a whole acronym for it in the Marine Corps. All those traits are those soft skills that make you a strong leader and strong leaders can excel anywhere in the workforce. No matter what your military occupational specialty was, what job that you're going into without for specific role, it's that leadership that you bring to the table. Simmons is always helping to develop its employees in many different ways. Leadership and development offers. Classes on many different topics from personal values, things that benefit you as yourself and personal finance all the way up to leadership style trainings and things that can help you grow as a leader within the company as well and further your career. Simmons goes above and beyond that just wanting to hire veterans. We want to help and support them in other ways as well. We have the Simmons Cares Clinics as a free healthcare for you and your family on the Simmons Medical Plan. We have our chaplain services that offer spiritual counseling, mental counseling. They're trained in PTSD counseling and things like that to kind of help with those transitioning service members and then going into that field helping other veterans find meaningful careers and successfully transitioning from military to civilian workforce. That's what gives me a new sense of purpose because when you exit the military, you you feel like you lose a sense of purpose because you were held such a prestigious role of defending the nation. And here at Simmons, I feel like I found that and I feel like other veterans that work here at Simmons. Have a sense of purpose through Simmons's mission of feeding your family and pets that you love. You're actually giving back to the community, giving back to the nation. It's a different, different fight, same battle.
