A few days late but posting some more campaigns I've been able to work on and to shake things up focusing on some #athletes I've partnered with and executed campaigns for. Russell Westbrook: In the realm of fashion, I played a pivotal role in building Russell’s brand as a trailblazer in the sports fashion world. You know those tunnel walks every NBA player now uses as a catwalk? Well I used to spam fashion editors daily with Russells looks for every playoff series and fashion week with street style paparazzi photos we orchestrated throughout the whole of 2015 -2017. Now it has become a media standard coverage style in the intersection of sports x fashion, and the status quo for athletes to flaunt their style. I also helped strategically align him with major brands, such as the CFDA and Rizzoli leading to Westbrook becoming the first non-traditional designer to have his own brand and store in Barney's history. As a result, Westbrook emerged as a leader and icon in the sports fashion movement during my collaboration with him and his team. Amar’e Stoudemire: I played a pivotal role in conceiving and launching Amar'e Stoudemire's IN THE PAINT Series in 2016. IN THE PAINT was an experiential art program designed to benefit underprivileged youth in communities nationwide. My involvement included facilitating collaborations between Amar'e and contemporary artists like Hebru Brantley, Daniel Arsham, and RETNA. Together with the youth in each target city, Amar'e and the artists engaged in collaborative + interactive painting sessions creating unique art installations. The artwork produced during these events were later auctioned, generating funds to support local art and recreation centers in key cities across the country like LA, Chicago, and Miami. As we recruit new talent at Potting Shed, I've had the opportunity to see our brand come to life through others' eyes. Reading through applications and speaking with candidates, it’s fascinating to see how the essence of Potting Shed is perceived externally. We specialise in crafting #BrandStrategy & #BrandIdentity, helping companies reflect the purpose that drives them and the value they offer. However, a brand isn't just what we declare it to be; it lives and breathes in the minds of those who experience it - essentially, a brand is reputation. If Potting Shed claimed to be a beacon of 'creative intelligence' yet delivered subpar design work, our reputation would inevitably falter. The dissonance between what is promised and what is delivered can tarnish a reputation swiftly, just as a tech company claiming innovation yet delivering outdated solutions would see their reputation quickly undermined. Authenticity is the cornerstone. A brand makes a promise; their service is how that promise is executed; reputation is the outcome of these interactions. And crucially, this reputation resides in the perceptions of our audience. Nike promises to help us find the athlete within us, but if the products were substandard, its reputation would suffer. Apple promises tech that “just works,” but if it offered complicated products with a poor user experience, its reputation would falter. McDonald’s promises consistent, affordable fast food; however, if it started selling only expensive dishes that took an age to serve, its reputation would disappear as quickly as a Big Mac vanishes into my son’s mouth 🍔 The promise needs to align with the execution. Recruitment is a powerful lens through which to gauge this alignment. The perspectives of applicants reflect not just what we project but how effectively our message - and execution - resonates in the real world. So, the next time you’re recruiting, consider it an opportunity to assess if your reputation truly aligns with your brand.

Honestly, at first, I shrugged it off with a "whatever," not thinking much of it. 🙄 But then, I received an email from the head of our division about how we can all contribute to this goal. That's when it hit me: there’s hardly been any mention of what’s in it for **us**—the employees! It seems like we’re expected to just grind away, hoping to ride the coattails of the company's success and claim the bragging rights of working for a top company. After 18 years with the same company - 18 years of exciting and interesting roles across 4 continents - would it start to make sense? Most of us would still shout a big "𝐍𝐎 𝐖𝐀𝐘!"❗ But working for a company where you feel valued, and being part of a team that shares a sense of mission - well, that can really change things. It keeps you learning, growing, and (dare I say) even excited about Monday mornings (or at least not dreading them!).
