A furious driver yelled at me to get my bike off the road yesterday. It made me rethink my entire approach to buyer personas. Here's why: I have a completely reasonable and kind friend, let's call them Riley. When Riley gets behind the wheel of a car, they undergo a transformation. Bits of spittle fly from their mouth as they ride bumpers and rage about the proper use of the fast lane. I probably wouldn't choose that moment to talk to Riley about boosting their market qualified web leads by more than 150%. (Although who could turn down such an offer?) That's because car Riley is not the same as put-$5-in-the-barista-tip-jar Riley or lightheartedly-laugh-over-beers Riley. That same thing is true of your customer. Do you know all of your own proverbial Rileys? Are you selling to the right one? Food for thought.
