As part of the Research Fellowship, I conducted a comparative study during 2023-2024, supported by Land Steiermark and IAS-STS unit at Graz university of technology, to accelerate the adoption of electric vehicles (EVs) in Austria, using Norway as a benchmark. The project aimed to identify and overcome technical, institutional, and socio-psychological barriers to the wider adoption of EVs in Graz. Key insights included the need for regulatory reform, expanded charging infrastructure, and targeted awareness campaigns to drive EV adoption. The results of this research are now publicly available on the Land Steiermark website and contribute to ongoing policy efforts to meet Austria’s sustainability goals. https://lnkd.in/dDHWseQ2

👏 It's excellent to see this, and it has my strongest support! While discussions on the future direction and structuring of the European research and innovation landscape—embracing bold and ambitious ideas—are both valuable and welcome, we must consistently emphasise the critical importance of safeguarding the independence of the European Research Council (ERC). The ERC provides immense value at the frontier of science and technology, and its independence is an essential cornerstone of its success. Document below demonstrates a strong support from 22 member states to reinforce the independence of the ERC 👇

The first feature & video in the "25 examples of research with impact" series is live! Featuring the research of Prof Jan Lagerwall, who works with beautiful liquid crystals. Read the whole feature: https://lnkd.in/eeSh6RUv
As the FNR marks 25 years since its creation, we highlight 25 examples of FNR-supported research with impact. Read the whole feature: https://lnkd.in/er42QfAV Since arriving in Luxembourg in 2014, Jan Lagerwall has led a team studying soft matter – states that defy the classification in solid, liquid or gas – with a particular focus on liquid crystals. From creating colour-changing rubber, to practical applications in finding cracks in structures such as bridges or tunnels, or detecting counterfeits, the impact of this team’s research is manifold, with much more on the horizon.
