In races such as the Vendée Globe, data plays a pivotal role in shaping a sailor’s strategies and ensuring success. Advanced racing yachts like Malizia - Seaexplorer are equipped with high-tech tools that provide a wealth of information. But what types of data are available to our skipper Boris Herrmann when he races offshore? Team Malizia’s co-skipper Will Harris navigates us through the sea of data that informs Boris’ decisions onboard Malizia - Seaexplorer. Can SIMAC Training learn from TEAM MALIZIA? - I think we can learn a lot, - #datamanagement #sustainiblity #DataCyperSecirity #FiberOptics #DataDrivenNavigation #Decesionmaking

With just 8 days left until the Loch Ness Marathon 2024, I've taken a moment to reflect on training and goal-setting. Recently, I've been utilizing the Tanda Race Predictor tool to set more attainable targets. According to my data, aiming for a sub-3:15 marathon might be a bit ambitious. I'll be pacing close to that, but realistically, I'm expecting to finish around 3:20. My ultimate goal is to complete the marathon in under 3:24:48. It's crucial to be realistic with targets and listen to what the data is telling you. Let's focus on setting achievable goals and pushing our boundaries without overreaching. Best of luck to everyone out there preparing for their races! Our co-founder Jacob Keilman wrote a pretty nice piece about the history of Race Management. Sailboat racing has a long, rich history, with organized competitions documented at least as far back as the Roman Republic. Throughout most of that history, the technology used to organize competitions has been pretty basic: fixed or floating points to define a course and a means of signaling a starting time, most commonly a flag. Along the way we developed a whole language of flags and added horns and watches, but the basic idea hasn’t changed much. Want to know more about it? Last week I climbed Mt. Everest! Not literally, but I did do 29,000 ft of climbing as part of my "Peak Week" for the upcoming Moab 240 race. Peak week is the week of max effort ahead of tapering down for an event. The week always brings a mix of emotions: nervous because it means the event is near, excitement because you are close to seeing it all come together, and fear because you know the week isn't going to be fun. This time I took slightly different approach. Given the unique nature of my upcoming race, I compressed it down into 4.5 days (the duration of the race). A half mile up the road from my house is the entrance to a trail that goes up a little mountain. One trip up and back is 725 ft of climbing. This peak week was both a physical and mental challenge as I completed 40 trips (112 miles / 29k ft of climbing). 29k ft happens to be roughly the amount of climbing I will need to do during my race and also happens to be the height of Mt. Everest, so I sort of climbed Mt. Everest. My body held up well, largely due I think to my proactive approach to recovery. Besides just consuming a ton of calories, Oomph and Precision Fuel & Hydration made all the difference as I dealt with heat, rain, 3 snakes, and even a bee sting. Glad to have the week behind me. Now I get to focus on final preparations for the upcoming Moab 240 race. No idea what the actual race will bring but see you at the starting line in just over 3 weeks.

Exactly 71 years ago (29 May 1953), a sherpa named Tenzing Norgay and his patron, Sir Edmund Hillary, became the first climbers ever to reach the summit of Mount Everest (8,848 metres high). Our brand takes its name from this legendary sherpa. Like Norgay, our work is characterised by cooperation, perseverance and commitment of knowledge and experience. Moreover, both of us aim to take others to the top. Want to know more about the 'Race to Everest'? Check out our StoryMap https://lnkd.in/ewn763hT #ElevatingSpatialIntelligence #Tenzing #FMEpartners

Definitely valid points here. Completing my first marathon (Marine Corps Marathon in DC) in 1998 in my 30s in 4 hours 7 minutes is not the same as I’m training for another one for later this year or early 2025 nearly 30 years later. How do you fairly compare race results between two different runners? Let’s say three runners all complete a marathon in 3:00. Taken at face value, you could say that all three runners did equally well. But what if those three runners were a 25-year-old man, a 40-year-old woman, and a 60-year-old man? That time is not equally hard for each of those runners — so who performed the best?
