Madayn backs drive to boost local aluminium industry MUSCAT: In line with Madayn’s ongoing efforts to enhance local content and support the industrial sector in the Sultanate of Oman, a key partnership agreement was inked between National Aluminium Products Company (NAPCO) and Oman Aluminium Cast Company at Knowledge Oasis Muscat, in the presence of Eng Dawood bin Salim al Hadabi, CEO of Madayn. Under this agreement, Oman Aluminium Cast will supply NAPCO with a newly developed raw material, which has successfully passed all necessary qualification tests. Oman Aluminium Cast Company relies on Sohar Aluminium for the supply of raw metal, and it then manufactures billets, which serve as the primary raw material for NAPCO. Al Faw Grand Port, located along the Kawr Abdallah Canal in Iraq, stands as an ambitious infrastructure project aimed to become the largest commercial port in the world.  The port has been designed with the target of handling 36 million tons of container cargo and 22 million tons of dry bulk by 2028, with a further increase expected within 2038. The Container Terminal facility area will consist of 2,000,000 sq m dedicated to container storage and 1,000,000 sq m for accommodation and warehouse buildings. The Bulk Cargo Terminal will include a 600,000 m² stacking yard and grain silos with a capacity of 200,000 m³. The port will be equipped with several administration and operation buildings and key utilities and infrastructure to support terminal and logistics operations.  The marine terminal will consist of separate piers designed for loading and unloading oil products, with counterbalanced loading/unloading arms. AMHEC orders 100 Tadano RT cranes Arabian Machinery & Heavy Equipment Co. (AMHEC) has placed an order with crane manufacturer Tadano for 100 units of its new 80 tonne capacity rough terrain crane model. It is “one of the largest orders by volume and, therefore, one of the most significant crane orders in Tadano’s 105-year history,” the crane manufacturer said. The GR-800EX rough terrain has a full power, five section, 47 metre boom and 17.7 metres of jib. The extensive GR series of RT models ranges from 13 tonnes capacity all the way up to 145 tonnes. Saudi Arabi-based AMHEC is a long-time Tadano customer. It was established in 2007 and is based in Khobar. The fleet includes more than 400 cranes. The deal was done via Saleh Abdulaziz Abahsain Co, Tadano distributor for Saudi Arabia. A handover ceremony to mark the historic order was held at Tadano’s Shido plant in Japan where it makes most of its rough terrain cranes. Attendees included: Abdullah Faisal Al Suwaiket, AMHEC CEO; Toshiaki Ujiie, Tadano president and CEO; Saleh Hamad Al-Mogbil, Saleh & Abdulaziz Abahsain Co managing director. Commenting on his order Abdullah Faisal Al Suwaiket said, “This is still an emerging market with a high level of competition. As we expand the fleet to address our growing needs, we always seek improvement in product quality while maintaining efficiency in prices, both for initial expenses and ongoing operating costs.” For his part Toshiaki Ujiie said, “We greatly appreciate Arabian Machinery & Heavy Equipment being such a longtime Tadano customer.
