We were delighted to host not one but two editions of our Private Banking and Wealth Management Insights for Women in Business event this year—in Geneva and Miami. These annual events are part of our ongoing commitment to empowering women in business with valuable tools, knowledge, and actionable insights. At both events, attendees from various industries and countries forged meaningful connections with our #toptalent and participated in unique networking opportunities. They also engaged in programs addressing challenges and opportunities in today's financial and #privatebanking landscape, such as the implications and dilemmas of AI, the role of Alternative Investments, and the global trends shaping the current macroeconomic outlook.

Women represent the largest market opportunity in the world. So why are we not taken more seriously as investors? In the United States alone, women had an economic impact in Q3-2023 totaling $8.95 billion. (IMD) By 2028, women will account for 75% of all discretionary spending. Women should be engaged throughout their lives–provided with the support and resources they need to become financially literate and empowered to make financial decisions. According to Bloomberg, there is at least a $700 billion global revenue opportunity in better serving women as customers. Instead, financial services firms are leaving money on the table by not listening to, helping, or understanding female customers. According to a recent study by McKinsey & Company (2020), wealth management firms need to refresh their offerings, and commit to a better approach to acquire and retain women as long-term clients. It's not the women that are the problem; it's a system that continues to overlook us.

Today I attended the Women of Silicon Roundabout 2024 event today, organised by Women in Technology World Series at ExCel London. It's been super interesting to hear from lots of inspiring women in the industry, and how the future of tech is powered by AI. Key takeaways from Day 1 of the event: 1. How can you use AI to do your "must do" tasks at work which are perhaps less exciting, so you can free up time to do more value added tasks? Also, your most creative time is not when you think it is! (shared by Heidi O'Leary) 2. While preparing for a presentation, think about what keeps your audience up at night, to understand how you can address their difficult questions (shared by Sarah Palmer) 3. Enable client centred conversations and build trusted relationships through connecting with your clients on a human level, and staying focused on their needs (shared by Gosia Syta) 4. Succeeding in digital transformation requires alignment, focus, collaboration, partnerships and story telling, underpinned by the mindset, people and culture of the organisation (shared by Norma Dove-Edwin) Thank you for sharing your insights! #WoSR24 #WomenInTech #WomenOfSiliconRoundabout Lucille Erika Gelas Wavestone
