"My hope for the future of public education in our County is for all students to feel a sense of belonging in their education spaces and that they are seen for who they are — and that this inclusiveness improves educational outcomes." Since her election in 2020, San Mateo County Board of Education Trustee Chelsea Bonini has been a dynamic force. She has chaired multiple subcommittees, served as President of the Board, and currently serves as the Board's representative to the Special Education Local Plan Area and the San Mateo County School Boards Association. With a long history in education as both a teacher and board member, Trustee Bonini has consistently prioritized inclusion and equity in her work. Thank you, Trustee Bonini, for your dedicated service! #SchoolBoardRecognitionMonth #SchoolBoards #ThankATrustee

What a Week for American Education! This week, we’re calling on everyone—teachers, parents, students, and community leaders—to come together for the future of our youth. 📚✨ Let’s ask ourselves: • Are we truly listening to what students need? • Are we observing without judgment? • Are we advocating for better resources and support? The school-to-prison pipeline is a harsh reality, steering too many children toward incarceration instead of providing them with the safety, development, and opportunities they deserve. This is an injustice we must address. Mr. Delmont Player, a dedicated advocate for schools and youth communities, exemplifies how we can make a difference. With his expertise in interrupting gang and group influence, and as a father, he understands the power of presence and collaboration. He reminds us that partnerships with schools lead to healthier, more meaningful experiences for our kids. More relatable individuals that can appeal to Generation Z the more likely education can be received at their level of understanding. As we celebrate American Education Week (November 18-22, 2024), let’s remember: education is the foundation of change. Let’s raise awareness, stay connected, and support one another. Thank you to BPCS schools Connexions, Reginald F Lewis, Baltimore Leadership School for Young Ladies, Success Academy, Yo Baltimore and BCPS Engagement Office for assisting and teaming up with NsNs to bridge education gaps and community reentry and youth empowerment care! Together, we can empower our youth and create pathways to success, not prison. #AmericanEducationWeek #EmpowerYouth #SupportEducation #breakthepipeline

Why is special education funding so important? 🏫💰 Dr. Kevin Rubenstein, President of the Council of Administrators of Special Education (CASE) and Assistant Superintendent of Student Services for Elmhurst Community Unit School District in Illinois, explains: "Special education funding is the second largest portion of federal school funding, right after Title 1. 📊 School districts across the country rely heavily on these dollars. Without them, we’d face significant challenges—such as shortages of teachers 👩🏫👨🏫 and other educators—impacting the support available for students with disabilities nationwide. These funds are absolutely imperative." I made this post last October & these are still my sentiments today!! EDUCATION FOR OUR CHILDREN IS STILL A PROBLEM IN THIS COUNTRY!! What’s happening in our public schools in Wisconsin is a #CRIME & I’m ready to hold EVERYONE involved accountable!!! ✊🏽 It’s NOT about public, charter, or choice … The facts are our children aren’t safe in our public schools & our children continue to #FAIL!! It’s NOT just a principal or teacher problem it’s a #SYSTEMIC problem!! Stop distracting us with this PUBLIC, CHARTER, CHOICE argument!! Our children are also failing because our #BLACK adults have allowed it!! We let anyone educate our children, indoctrinate them without input!! BLACK PEOPLE HAVE FAILED BLACK CHILDREN AS WELL!! You want our children back in public schools then provide safe environments, better lunches, renovate/ remodel or build new school buildings, make the class environments conducive for learning to take place, SMALLER class sizes, BETTER PAY FOR TEACHERS, make parental involvement mandatory, hold yourselves accountable … Invest in our inner city schools .. Our students shouldn’t have to attend “white” schools or conform to receive a GREAT public education.. .. If our public schools provided quality education there would be no need for alternative education .. .. I CHOOSE our CHILDREN/ Students!! For the record I’ve taught for public, charter, & choice schools .. I’ve also coached teachers who were also employed at public, charter, & choice schools .. I’m talking what I’ve experienced NOT heard .. The most travesty in education I’ve seen with my own eyes over the last 23 years came from our public schools! We MUST do better!! Wherever they are safe & are receiving a nonconforming, non biased, and effective education that’s where the money needs to go & that’s where our kids need to be!! .. I’ll save my opinion about hiring more district leaders & educators who live in the community for another time.. WE NEED MORE EDUCATORS IN OUR SCHOOLS WHO ARE INVESTED IN OUR COMMUNITY NOT JUST THOSE WHO ARE “helping po folks & their kids” .. I digress for now!! 🤣✌🏽✊🏽💚🙏🏽 #2023growup #drjohnson #educator @milwaukeemps @mteaunion @naacp @leonwrussell @derricknaacp @govevers @mayorofmilwaukee
