Healthcare is seemingly at a crossroads. Hospital admissions are increasing, while labor, pharmaceutical, and supply costs continue to rise. This challenge is further complicated by workforce shortages and inflation; inadequate reimbursements from government and private payers often do not cover the total cost of hospital-based care. In fact, many patients have no means to afford acute hospital care today. The Treasure Coast is not immune to these headwinds. My comments and some facts around these particular headwinds within Indian River County: https://lnkd.in/ere-s6Ge
Richard Rothman, MD, shares about our commitment to serving all residents of the county. Read about how we've expanded clinical services based on the community's needs, provided care to patients who were unable to pay for services, offered high-quality care to members of the community and more. ✅Read more: https://cle.clinic/49Ku37b

The medical care we provide is only one part of the broad impact we have that adds up to more than $662 million over the course of a year. This will be VERY INTERESTING! 👉 Two great health systems (both for which I've had the honor of working), but also very different health systems coming together. This signals a novel strategy for collaboration vs consolidation. #healthcare #northcarolina

Don't be fooled. Value-based care won't come to you! You need to go to value-based care! How? By weaving together the principles of data, population health management, operations, finance, and change management. Yes, it's challenging, but it's worth it. If you're at the annual #FACHC conference in late July, Carrie T. and I will show you the how, and hear from Syntax Health and Austin Helton about the #VBC #contracting, #data and the impressive results we've achieved. #VBC #ValueBasedCare #valuebasedhealthcare #data #PopulationHealthManagement #pophealth #healthcarefianance #change #changemanagement

Let's get some actionable work done that does not include passing legislation that research has proven to provide greater gaps in workforce retention and critical infrastructure support for healthcare. For instance, enhancing penalties for workplace violence incidents. It is well known that this is ineffective and severely gate kept by facility policy and Texas is an "At will" to work state. I hope they spend the time advocating and listening to experts in the field that have looked outside current ideas and legislation using more forward thinking approaches that are evidence based. We need you to be an educated, and advocates for the voices of Texas Healthcare Workers. Because one day, you will all be patients too. Texas is 51st in the nation for mental health spending. Why?
Today marks the start of the 89th Texas legislative session, and THA is eager to fight for patients, hospitals and the ability to continue providing dedicated care to the people of Texas. Our lobby team, led by seasoned hospital advocate Carrie Kroll, met with membership this morning to kick off session and collaborate on the laws and policies that help patients and hospitals. Over the next 140 days, lawmakers will determine the future of health care in Texas – and THA is honored to be on the front line, representing both our hospitals and the communities they serve.

How many aged care residents receive care based on the best available evidence? We all want this for the people we serve – but what’s really happening? This ‘CareTrack’ paper reports on the first Australian study of adherence to evidence-based care for people in long-term care using a standardised method. The study examined the care received by 294 residents across 27,585 care encounters in 25 long-term care (aged care) facilities. Check out the full article here: https://buff.ly/43KWbV5
