Throughout my childhood, I had a dream of pursuing a career in journalism and creative writing. So, how did I find myself earning an undergraduate degree in business administration? What led me to dedicate four years of hard work to this field, only to ultimately transition into education? My educational and career journey has been marked by numerous pivots. In this video, I delve into the twists and turns that have brought me to where I am today—just two weeks away from embarking on my master's program in education policy. LETRS is published by Lexia, which is owned by Cambium Learning.  Don't let the pictures of happy smiling children on their website fool you.  It is abundantly clear that they are much more interested in $ than in children. Lexia has blocked the promotion of this video on YouTube.  If you can't win the argument in an academic setting, you bully, threaten, and silence those who disagree.  It is sad that this type of suppression by those with money and influence has become normalized. In a few weeks, 3 hockey teammates and I will be tackling the Wolf Run 10km obstacle course to raise funds for Action Tutoring, an organization dedicated to bridging the educational attainment gap. This challenge is particularly significant for me, as someone who admittedly isn't fond of running, this represents a substantial personal challenge taking place just a few weeks before my 30th birthday. It also marks a crucial point between my first ankle reconstruction and the prospect of my other one being done and having to start again to regain fitness and strength. The importance of science, technology, engineering, arts and maths (STEAM) is becoming more apparent every day. The Foundation’s Full STEAM Ahead project aims to provide creative learning opportunities for young people to enhance their self-confidence and teach skills that will improve future employability. The latest school to attend The Halliwell Jones Stadium was Lymm High School who were supported by Foundation sponsors, Honest Payroll. The students have been working on a career transition project for professional Rugby League players equipping them for life after the sport. By introducing money skills in a real-life settings, the youngsters presented back their ideas about financial investments, general living costs and the implications of starting a new business by applying elements of the maths curriculum to their projects.
