Rolls-Royce SMR was delighted to host a U.S. delegation to its Module Development Facility at the The University of Sheffield Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre’s Factory 2050 recently. Delegates from State Utility Commissions of Florida, Washington, Virginia as well as Utah, and Indiana Office of Energy Development heard how Rolls-Royce SMR’s ‘factory-built’ nuclear power plant uses a modularised construction and assembly approach to reduce the time and cost of SMR deployment around the globe for a range of applications. Harry Keeling, Rolls-Royce SMR’s Head of Business Development – New Markets said: “Rolls-Royce SMR is unique in that the entirety of the plant is manufactured as modules within our factories, before the modules are assembled at the relevant sites into an operational SMRs. Our facility at the UK’s Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre is crucial in proving this deployment model and it was our pleasure to host this important visit and to discuss how our SMR could be manufactured and deployed in North America.” Andrew Baker, VP Government Relations at Rolls-Royce North America, said: “Building on our vision to manufacture and deploy 60 Hz Rolls-Royce SMRs in the U.S., the visit was an extremely productive opportunity to further our engagements with key states and showcase our innovative technology. We look forward to taking these important relationships forward in support of our vision and delivering the resulting economic, workforce and industrialization benefits for the U.S. Thank you to all who supported this highly valuable visit.” We look forward to further collaboration and discussions through 2025.
Congratulations!
Looks like it was new PPE day at Rolls-Royce SMR great to see you’re all ready
Great to see
Great news Collaboration between Britain & US is generally useful All the best Sunny
Amazing 👏
If Teslas can be manufactured in Europe - Rolls Royce SMR equipment can use sites for manufacturing in the US vice versa...
Imagine this. You are on a ship at sea and you need a water pump! You don’t have the part but you have my metal printer, and the .STL file or G code. So you print a malty metal part. Bronze body, Stainless steel impellor. As a single non serviceable part. You save the day!! I have developed a small, fast, robust, light, multi metal depositing printer head. Single step, so no sintering or casting, not even cleaning! It also has many other interesting attributes. I am selling this technology. Give me a call, let’s talk. Kevin H kevin@gardenersbeehive.com Note: the entire thing you are standing in front of, I could print.
This is an important collaboration initiative for the sale of SMR technology to the US and beyond. Hopefully, the UK Government will understand the hard work that R-R is putting into these types of marketing initiatives and will speed up their SMR decision making progress for the benefit of UK nuclear industry. 🇬🇧☢️
Looking forward to hearing more about how those collaborations pan out in 2025 👀
