Designed from the ground up with business owners, #fleet managers, and drivers in mind, the Rivian Commercial Van offers a seamless combination of functionality, efficiency, and user experience. At the heart of its development is James H. Muiter, Rivian’s Vehicle Line Manager, whose extensive background in automotive engineering and fleet customization has helped shape a vehicle that’s not just electric—but built for real-world work. “The traditional approach to commercial vans is to build a big empty box and let the customer figure it out,” Muiter explains. “We’ve designed something fundamentally different.” Unlike most work vans that prioritize cargo over comfort, Rivian has placed user experience at the forefront. From improved visibility and ergonomic driver seating to intuitive technology, every detail has been crafted with the daily user in mind. “I don’t think I’ve ever been on a vehicle program where we’ve talked as much about the user experience as I have on our van program,” Muiter says. By studying real-world usage from pilot customers, Rivian has meticulously refined its design to ensure the van meets the needs of businesses large and small. Advanced driver assistance features and over-the-air software updates further enhance both safety and efficiency. When it comes to fleet vehicles, one size does not fit all. “If you visit ten people who operate vans, all ten of them will be different,” Muiter says. That’s why Rivian has built flexibility into the Rivian  Commercial Van, ensuring it can be easily #upfit for various industries—whether it’s an HVAC company requiring onboard power, a mobile service provider needing specialized storage, or a delivery fleet optimizing for cargo capacity. Beyond the vehicle itself, Rivian has endeavored to engineer a better overall experience for a range of end users. “What I'm excited for is that the driver will say, ‘I love the Rivian the most because it's designed around me. It’s the most comfortable. It drives the best. Everything is where I need it to be. It’s the easiest to use,’” Muiter says. For fleet managers, Rivian aims to make ownership and operations as seamless as possible. “I want the yard manager or fleet manager to say that it's easy to live with, that they appreciate that when they need maintenance, parts or service support, we're available,” Muiter continues. And for the purchasing managers making the investment decision, the goal is clear: “I want them to say that Rivian is the best to do business with.” With Rivian’s Commercial Van, the future of fleet vehicles isn’t just about going electric—it’s about making work better, one driver at a time. Is Amazon paying 1% above cost for the Rivian Commercial Van's? Profit is low on a large controlled market segment for vehicles sold to Amazon. Which means stock prices remain low.
