At our Sales Kickoff, I had the opportunity to break down AI: What it really is, how it’s often misunderstood, and why we don’t always recognize it in action. As Marvin Minsky put it: "Most of the time when it works, we don’t consider it AI anymore." AI is often reduced to just "Generative AI" today, but the reality is much broader. Here’s how I frame it: 🔷 AI is the broadest category: Automating tasks that typically require human intelligence, sometimes using rules or heuristics. 🔷 Machine Learning is a subset of AI: Models trained on data and improving through feedback loops. 🔷 Generative AI (the buzzword of the moment) is just one part of Machine Learning: It powers tools that create text, images and more. Personally, it's important to me that my work has an impact. I'm proud to lead Rithum's new Strategic Innovation Team, where we are applying AI where appropriate but also use other tools. We can already see the impact of this work through AI Magic Mapper that streamlines product onboarding for hundreds of brands and millions of SKUs. Another example is Walmart Categorizer, which is now improving the classification of millions of SKUs for our clients.
