Morning Drive time listening. Powerful! In this well-intentioned journey, many parents fall into a trap: focusing on what's wrong rather than celebrating what’s right. Whether it’s a challenging behavior, an unmet expectation, or a minor setback, we often find ourselves dwelling on the negatives. But what if the real key to positive parenting lies not in pointing out what’s wrong but in celebrating what’s right? https://lnkd.in/giiQamH4

Parenting and Discipline: Finding the Right Balance As parents, we all want the best for our kids. Some believe pampering shows love, while others think strict discipline is the answer. But here’s the truth: both extremes can do more harm than good. Children thrive when there’s a balance. They need love, boundaries, and guidance to grow into confident, responsible adults. Over the next three days, I’ll be sharing practical tips to help you strike this balance, because discipline without love leads to fear, and love without discipline leads to chaos. Need guidance on nurturing your child’s growth academically or behaviorally? Stay tuned for more insights that can help shape your parenting journey. Let’s raise happy, well-rounded kids together! ©Lilian Ajewole

Parenting is exhausting. The days and weeks can feel long, but the reality is that the years are short and time goes by in a blink of an eye. We must be mindful of this when we think of our kids and our teens. We only will have them living with us for so long before they fly the coop and start their adult lives. I know as a mum how hard it is to have energy and time to connect to our kids, let alone our other loved ones. We all want the best for our kids and want to have energy for them and connect meaningfully with them, but the days can pass us by so quickly. This is why we must make connection an intention for each day, no matter how big or small we choose to connect to our kids, finding time for 1 connection activity will not only make our hearts full but it will light up our kid’s souls and create core memories for them that will last their lifetime and deepen our relationship foundations. It can feel daunting and hard to think of how to connect to your child, especially if you are a parent who did not have parents who played and connected, or if you were a child who was parentified. Remember, our kids don’t need grand big gestures, they want the opposite. They want just us. They want our eyes to meet theirs. They want our faces to light up when we see them play or engage in something. They want our bodies to be soft, warm and open. They want our validating words. All they want is us. No matter if it’s 10 mins or 15 mins. Above are a few easy and simple ways you can connect with your kids in meaningful ways that will strengthen your relationship, their self-esteem and feelings of belonging in the world. How do you like to connect to your kids? Let us know in the comments below. Follow @joyfulchild_official for daily, thoughtful content to help on this complex journey of parenting. #connection #parenting #parentingtips #familygoals
