[Nueva Publicación 2024]: Nuestros hallazgos indican que la impedancia respiratoria medida por la técnica de oscilación forzada (FOT) es una herramienta útil para monitorear la progresión de la fibrosis pulmonar en pacientes con Hermansky-Pudlak (HPS), especialmente con la mutación puertorriqueña HPS-1. Agradezco a mis co-autores por su valiosa colaboración en este estudio. [New Publication 2024]: Our findings indicate that respiratory impedance measured by the forced oscillation technique (FOT) is a useful tool for monitoring the progression of pulmonary fibrosis in patients with Hermansky-Pudlak syndrome (HPS), especially with the Puerto Rican HPS-1 mutation. I truly appreciate the work being done! As a suggestion, it’s beneficial to use the term variant instead of mutation to avoid any unintended negative connotations. While HPS has a high prevalence in Puerto Rico, it’s important to refrain from labeling it as the Puerto Rican mutation to help prevent any potential stigmatization or discrimination against our population.
