Bureau of Land Management to advance nine solar energy projects on western lands The Bureau of Land Management (BLM), an agency within the Department of Interior, is advancing nine solar projects on public lands that could potentially power nearly 2 million homes with clean energy according to a department press release. The projects, which are located in Nevada and Arizona, also aim to further the Biden-Harris Administration’s objective of creating a carbon emission free power sector by 2025. Clean energy progress being made at scale. The Department of Interior also provided summaries of the progress being made with respect clean energy projects approved earlier in the year. These projects are targeted to generate 25 gigawatts, enough clean energy to power 12 million homes across the country. These undertakings include solar, wind and geothermal projects, as well as gen-tie lines on public lands that are essential for connecting clean electricity projects on both federal and non-federal lands to the grid. This story can be read in its entirety (no paywall) on the Wolters Kluwer Vital Law site at https://lnkd.in/ggD6dPDB. As reported by Brad Rosen. #BLM #SolarProjects #CleanEnergy #ClimateReslience

Mississippi missed out on a crucial federal grant for residential solar projects, raising concerns about the state's commitment to renewable energy. Without funding from the Solar for All Program, Mississippi may struggle to meet its clean energy goals and support local communities. To overcome this setback, the state must focus on promoting solar adoption, incentivizing installations, and investing in clean energy infrastructure. By taking proactive measures, Mississippi can lead the way in sustainable energy practices. #RenewableEnergy #SolarPower #MississippiSustainability https://lnkd.in/eS2h8ERd #SolarPower #RenewableEnergy #GreenTech #SustainableLiving #EcoFriendlyInnovation

Final Regulations Enact SEIA’s Recommendations to Reduce Costs and Expedite Renewable Energy Advancement on Public Lands Today, the U.S. Bureau of Land Management (BLM) released final regulations overseeing leasing and rental rates for renewable energy ventures on public lands. These regulations closely align with suggestions from the Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA) to simplify the advancement of clean energy initiatives on federal territories. The finalized regulations will: Abigail Ross Hopper, president and CEO of SEIA, issued the following statement: “Today the U.S. Bureau of Land Management (BLM) codified SEIA’s recommendations to make it faster, easier, and cheaper to build clean energy projects on public lands. We need to pull every lever we can to efficiently deploy […] Read the full story here: https://lnkd.in/dstVT8aA #solarenergy #alternativeenergy #solarpv #pvsolar #photovoltaic #cleanenergy #cleantech #climatechange #middleeast #africa #india #asiapacific #asia #northamerica #renewableenergy #renewableenergy #seia #solarenergy #unitedstates

Renewable Energy Zones (REZs) are gathering momentum in Australia's eastern states. NSW has been the first to move with its 20 year Electricity Infrastructure Roadmap and the first of 5 REZs awarded to ACE Energy to be the network operator for the Central West Orana REZ. Victoria and now Queensland have followed suit with their own plan and program of REZs. Queensland government has recently appointed Powerlink Queensland as the REZ Delivery Body. In this role Powerlink will provide input to the REZ Roadmap, coordinate how renewable projects connect to the new transmission network in REZs and also engage with landholders, communities and other stakeholders. #renewableenergyzones #REZ #transmission #notransitionwithouttransmission https://buff.ly/3XhKwKx

The New York State Department of Public Service Commission (PSC) has approved the Energy Storage Roadmap 2.0, aiming to achieve the state's target of 6GW of energy storage by 2030. This initiative, led by Governor Kathy Hochul, includes solicitations for large-scale battery storage and onshore renewable energy resources. The roadmap is part of New York's broader climate goals, which include sourcing 70% of its electricity from renewable energy by 2030 and achieving 100% emissions-free electricity by 2040. Key elements of the roadmap involve NYSERDA-led solicitations for 4.7GW of bulk storage, and incentives for 1.5GW of retail and 200MW of residential storage. A significant feature is the 'Index Storage Credit' mechanism, designed to stabilize revenue for storage developers, addressing investment barriers. The roadmap also prioritizes disadvantaged communities, allocating 35% of funding to reduce reliance on polluting peaker plants in these areas. Additionally, the roadmap includes provisions for enhanced safety measures following a series of fires at energy storage projects in 2023. These include draft recommendations for state fire codes and guidance to ensure safer deployment. https://lnkd.in/gJs5e-f3 https://lnkd.in/dJFdECEx #EnergyStorage #NewYork #OdinGlobal
