Reflecting on a Year at Rizzle June quietly marked my first anniversary at Rizzle [a bit belated in sharing this], a milestone that snuck up on me faster than anticipated. While it's a cliché to say time flies, this occasion sparked a period of reflection. Initially, it led me down the path of setting new goals for the year ahead. However, I paused to consider - is a constant focus on achievement the best measure of progress? Rizzle holds a special place in my career journey. It's where I transitioned into my first full-time role, a baptism by fire that equipped me with invaluable lessons. Looking back, I liken my entry to Rizzle to a wide-eyed puppy, eager to learn and contribute but undoubtedly lacking experience. Joining Rizzle as my first full-time role offered lessons I never anticipated. I felt like a novice navigating a complex world, but looking back, I see two main areas of growth: 1.⁠ ⁠Personal Growth: Personal growth came from many lessons, the most important of which was understanding priorities rather than balancing them. Admittedly, this came with a learning curve (remember the puppy analogy?).   I discovered that tackling ten daily tasks might seem productive, but it sacrifices work-life balance. Spreading out the work allowed me to appreciate my role not only as an employee but also as someone who values family, friends, and other aspects of life. 2.⁠ ⁠Career Growth: Professionally, my role has evolved beyond completing tasks efficiently. While I've always taken pride in delivering high-quality work on time, my focus has expanded to include team functionality. I’ve learned the value of team dynamics and the importance of contributing to the team's overall effectiveness. Transitioning to more supervisory responsibilities, I’ve embraced the role of guiding and motivating my colleagues. Ensuring the quality of our collective work and fostering a positive team environment has been a challenging but rewarding transition. These lessons resonate with many of us, marking shared experiences in professional growth. I am deeply grateful for the opportunities Rizzle has provided, and I look forward to continuing this journey of progress and learning. Facing changes is exciting yet challenging. It's natural to want to point fingers and blame others, but ultimately, change is always for the best. Truthfully, I did not expect this kind of reaction from my customers, friends and connections. I feel blessed for the appreciation and acknowledgments. Your kindness has helped me reflect and set my focus on key principles as I evaluate the next step of my professional journey. People don't leave companies; they leave due to the organization's leadership, or lack thereof. My primary focus will always be on positive and supportive leadership, building a company culture centered on people. Companies often use the term "Customer Centric." However, to truly become that kind of company, you first and foremost need to be "People Centric."

My dog Tucker and I used to go to the dog park together.  It’s a giant park for dogs to be off-leash, make new dog friends, sniff a lot, and, in Tucker’s case, jump on everyone he meets.  This is one reason we don’t go anymore.  Throughout the dog park are trails the owners walk.  The only time I ever stray from the trail is when it’s snowy, and I can’t see it.  Tucker runs wherever he pleases, sniffing other dogs (and their buns), the right size stick for his big teeth, and the perfect place to relieve himself.  I’ve often felt him looking at me, wondering why I’m still on the trail.  “Hey, Mom, come see this gnarly-looking tree.  It’s shaped like a giraffe!”  I can’t imagine everything I’ve missed! The human brain is naturally wired to stay on the trail.  The grass begins to flatten, and we can’t help but repeat the same pattern.  It’s not until a big event happens, like a foot of snow, that we consider other options, even when they’ve always been there. It’s scary, hard work to deviate from our comfort zone intentionally, and we don’t know exactly where it will take us.  However, the downside is that we know exactly where it leads—and sometimes, we’re ready for something different.  We’re ready to see the giraffe! If you find yourself stuck in a familiar career path, it can feel unfulfilling or boring. Today is our Curium Team Day 💪 We've never had a formal office working policy. We trust each other, focussing on outcomes and what our customers need. Our customers take us on some fantastic adventures. We work where and when we need to. But one thing is sacred. 💯 Our time together. This week, we spent the day together, bonding, celebrating, debating and planning our future. As you'd expect from a team that runs events for Bentley, Tropicana, and Volkswagen, the energy is high, and we laugh a lot. But that isn't enough, as well as our team days; at 12:30 pm every Monday, we have an all-hands call to update each other with the latest goings.
