After introducing a streamlined consultation process to efficiently assess biocides safety last May, ECHA’s Biocidal Products Committee recently adopted a series of opinions and Union authorisations to enhance the safety and transparency of biocides use in the EU. During the BPC-51 meeting held from May 27 to May 31, 2024, ECHA’s BPC Committee also raised concern over the increasing number of opinions not supporting the approval of active substances and Union authorisations due to incomplete data. Consequently, ECHA: ➡️ Strongly encourages applicants to ensure their dossiers are complete before submission. ➡️ Reminds applicants that all data requirements are specified in the BPR regulation, and guidance documents are available on the procedure and required data. The adopted opinions will soon be accessible on ECHA’s website, providing valuable insights for stakeholders.
