As a small business helping others to manage their environmental impacts, it only makes sense for us to do the same! While we do make our best efforts to minimize our emissions, some travel is essential and this is the result. As we do not have any formal requirements mandating carbon offsets, we choose to mitigate our emissions through an equivalent donation to a high impact climate charity (with help from our partners at High Impact Athletes!) Finally, as we know this is not a perfect science, this year we have donated the equivalent of TWICE our calculated emissions to really make sure we’re doing our part. For more information on why we do this, or if you’re interested in doing the same, please reach out to info@racingtozero.ca and we will be happy to help 🌎

Today's tiny tip is to use notifications to your advantage 🛠 I don't know about you but I seem to have a gazillion different things in my head. If I'm expected to remember everything without help, it's not going to happen! So, I use notifications to help my climate impact by... 🌴 Setting up a push notification on TreeApp to nudge me to plant my daily tree if I haven't already 👟 Turning on an evening reminder from WeWard reminding to convert my daily steps (which add up into points that I can donate to charity) 🛰️ Adding a regular note in my to do list to spend 10 mins on WWF's walrus from space How do you make it easier to take those tiny environmental actions that add up over time? #Sustainability #TinyTip #SustainabilityWriter Image shows a card reading: Tiny tip - use notifications

🌍 Did you know? Producing a single T-shirt requires around 2,500 litres of water, and a pair of jeans takes 7,600 litres! That’s enough water for one person to drink for over 5 years. 💧 At Young Allies, we’re not just connecting families in need with essential clothing—we’re also helping save our planet by reducing waste and conserving vital resources. When you donate a bag of clothes, the water savings can be monumental. For example: 5 T-shirts: 12,500 litres 2 pairs of jeans: 15,200 litres Imagine the impact of one bag filled with these items! By donating instead of discarding, you’re helping families and fighting the climate crisis—one bag at a time. 🌱♻️ 💡 Your turn: What sustainable practices do you follow to make a difference? Share your tips below and inspire others! 💬👇 #Sustainability #WaterConservation #ClothingWaste #MakeAnImpact #YoungAllies

The #inktober prompt for today is 'exotic' and I liked to look at not what would be foreign or alien to *us*, but when are *we* or our products exotic to other lifeforms? Please help reduce waste ending up in the environment. The plastic bag will outlive hundreds of generations of octopuses, and might kill as many in the process. And of course a donation to your favorite NGO like Greenpeace can help protect the environment. #inktober2024

If you’re part of a charity, research shows that the people you serve are likely to be impacted most by climate change and nature loss. During ACEVO’s Climate Week, a panel discussion concluded that charities can’t afford to stand back and wait for others to act. Now, thanks to a newly launched resource from NPC (New Philanthropy Capital) there’s a free practical guide to how you can help. The Everyone’s Environment Pathway is a step-by-step guide to support charities and contains key actions to take, important questions to ask and common concerns, alongside inspiring case studies and links to further resources. Explore the Pathway and start taking positive action now: https://buff.ly/3AYEkPT And don’t forget, if you’d like to take action on a personal level, take a look at all the roles available on the Reach website and Volunteer for Climate. https://buff.ly/3Q5FPko #ClimateWeek #Climate #EveryonesEnvironment #Charity #VolunteerForClimate

There's no better way to celebrate a successful Future Branches event than to plant some trees, 500 trees to be exact! At Future Branches, we believe in the power of unity and collective action to protect our planet. That's why we partnered with One Tree Planted, a nonprofit dedicated to global reforestation, to plant trees. They raise awareness about the importance of trees, offer a sustainability solution everyone can participate in (and feel good about), and motivate younger generations to do something positive for the environment. By registering for Future Branches Boston, we automatically donated $1 to One Tree Planted on your behalf. Together, we can create a greener, healthier planet for ourselves and future generations. Here's to planting more trees for years to come! #FutureBranches #OneTreePlanted #biodiversity #reforestation #sustainability
