I had a great time facilitating a workshop entitled, "Practical Metacognitive Strategies for the College Classroom" at the 2024 Teaching, Learning, & Technology Conference (TLTCon 24). #TLT One of the best virtual conference I've attended. Thank you College of Charleston for a great event! Tolulope (Tolu) N. led an impactful session - I can't wait to share what I've learned from her and the other presenters these past two days and start implementing new strategies to enhance my instruction.

Understanding objections to and arguments against cy pres awards is crucial for companies in class action settlements. My colleague Bill Boies provides a comprehensive analysis of leading cases, answering uncommon questions and rejecting broad objections. In school, we were all introduced to the great men & women who accomplished things worthy of being featured in our history text books. These people worked within "the system" to do so, with the underlying message being, "if they did it, you can do it to." Unfortunately, when you go off the beaten path, and learn what those history text books in school purposefully left out, you not only learn that these men & women had some skeletons in their closets, you also learn that their accomplishments were also either highly exaggerated, or grossly downplayed (mostly what passes for "black history" in America). Eventually, if you dedicate yourself to being a student history for long enough, you'll discover that all the not great, but extraordinary people in history, aren't found in school text books because they all share a specific trait that isn't conducive to the American indoctrination/education system: they were all menaces to society who didn't participate in "the system," even while actively taking part in it. These people aren't remembered by history text books, but instead, they become legends.
