Transforming Classics into Modern Masterpieces No, I don’t want to fall in love 💔… Chris Isaak’s “Wicked Game” in an Italian 🇮🇹 classical remix 🔄 I’m excited to share my latest project where I blend the haunting melody of Chris Isaak’s “Wicked Game” with the rich, emotive elements of classical Italian opera. This remix brings a fresh perspective to a beloved classic, showcasing the timeless beauty of both genres. For my fellow professionals: How do you incorporate classic elements into your modern projects to create something unique/impactful?

GERMANY 101 : CULTURAL SENSITIZATION SERIES BY SKIVAGA "NEVER BE LATE." According to one old GERMAN saying: “Five minutes ahead of TIME, is a German’s punctuality.” In Germany, time is not just of the essence—it's practically sacred. Deadlines, appointments, timetables, and dates are treated like solemn oaths. Being late isn't just frowned upon; it's like breaking a pinky promise. Unless, of course, you have a spectacular excuse worthy of a soap opera plot twist. #GermanHospitality #CareerOpportunity #LimitedSlots #EuropeanHospitality #DreamCareer #ExclusiveHotels #DynamicIndustry #HospitalityJobs #LuxuryExperience #ManagementRoles #HotelCareers #JoinUsNow #skivaga #skilledvagabonds

### A Journey of Years: From Sketches to Themes The first sketches of the opera emerged in 2007. By that time, I had years of composing experience, but I still didn’t feel capable enough to take on a work of this magnitude and emotional depth. Attempting to adapt the novel into a libretto also seemed nearly impossible. The only way to remain faithful to Brontë’s text would have been to create an operatic cycle comparable to Wagner's *Ring des Nibelungen*, as *Wuthering Heights* could not withstand abridgment or alteration. Knowing, no one in the 21first century would spend four nights in a row to watch an opera, I decided to compose *The Highlights of Wuthering Heights*: a selection of the most memorable, dramatic scenes from the book. The heart of the story was captured in a few powerful moments, which could represent the essence of Brontë’s work. Between 2007 and 2014, I dedicated myself to an extensive study of the novel, dissecting every detail in an attempt to form my interpretation musically.

Maria Callas once said that “The opera starts long before the curtain goes up and it ends long after the curtain has come down”; and to be honest, that’s also the case when you have a keynote or a presentation to give. You wake up in the morning thinking about it, you start to imagine yourself on that stage, you do a rehearsal, you check over and over again if you know your words and once the moment is there you go in full spotlight. What most singers do and most speakers don’t, is a solid warming up before going on stage – the rehearsal is not a warming up; the rehearsal is a checklist that you know the above - What should actually be part of the routine instead of overthinking your words and stressing about the moment that the curtain goes up? Some of the things to focus on (the list is longer…): How is your energy? Do breathe from the chest or do you breathe from the lower part of the belly? Is the rest of your body relaxed? How is your voice and is your voice in position? Speaking in front of an audience is more than just repeating your words and do that in ‘the most perfect way’ possible. Standing on stage means knowing how to use your words as a valuable service to the ones that are listening to you and transmit your energy with intention. Want to know more? “Summertime, and the livin' is easy Fish are jumpin' and the cotton is high Oh, your daddy's rich and your ma is good-lookin' So hush little baby, don't you cry?” "Summertime" is an aria composed in 1934 by George Gershwin for the 1935 opera Porgy and Bess. The lyrics are by DuBose Heyward, the author of the novel Porgy on which the opera was based, and Ira Gershwin. Possibly the most famous version is that by Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Armstrong. https://lnkd.in/eCnghJb4 Q. Please do a Campbellian reading of Mozart's 'The Magic Flute.' A. Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's opera The Magic Flute can be analyzed through the lens of Joseph Campbell's The Hero's Journey, a framework that outlines the common narrative structure found in myths across cultures. Here's how the opera aligns with Campbell's monomyth: 1. The Call to Adventure Tamino: The opera begins with Tamino fleeing from a serpent. His rescue by the Three Ladies of the Queen of the Night serves as his call to adventure. He is then tasked with rescuing the Queen's daughter, Pamina, from the clutches of Sarastro, which provides the initial quest. 2. Refusal of the Call Although Tamino does not explicitly refuse, his initial confusion and fear when presented with the task could be seen as a form of reluctance or hesitation, typical in this stage.

Friday Arts … the news is still depressing, so let’s keep talking about other things… The Springboard Thing! The visible face of the Springboard Thing is what you see us doing. ...Barefoot Opera in 2023; And if you are part of The Brisbane Club community, the two events so far and a recent event at Tattersalls in the city also. If you missed these events, the BIG ONE that is still coming is the first EVER Springboard Opera Gala on 29 June. Check it out here - https://lnkd.in/gWvq4UiA – you really need to be there! But there is another part of The Springboard Thing – one that is not so visible. So here we go! The not-so-secret-Quokka (we are, after all, Australian) part of The Springboard Thing. The culture … Which is what the Springboard Opera Adventurers are working hrd on at the moment. As we all know, the fish rots from the head first. But in the true spirit of C21, this represents an opportunity as well as a threat. The board is imposing the same requirements of innovation, challenging the paradigm as pushing the envelope on itself. One of the questions that is exercising our collective board-mind is whether, when looking for new directors, we can find a different way. So, CAN you job-share a directorship, for busy professionals, who have other things to do as well as Transforming the Opera Idea in their spare time? This is Springboard Opera. And this is re-inventing the Opera Idea from the inside out. So come down and see us at https://lnkd.in/gXgNVTGg – it is going to be WILD! #Future #TransformationalLeadership #LeadershipDevelopment #Directors #Technology #Performingarts #YourNetworkForLife Luisa Tarnawski Leslie Martin Gheorja Haidley

Opera: Not everything is for everyone, but there must be something for everyone. In a climate of diminishing funding for the arts, never complain. Don’t feel insulted, even if you have been. Be inspired and inspiring. Be brave, proud, resilient, and humble. Tell your audiences you love them; they’re your best ambassadors. Say what you do and do what you say. Turn the vision of today into the reality of tomorrow. Be a pragmatic idealist. Finish what you’ve started. Never compromise on excellence. Adhere to your budgets. And above all: strive to change the way that people think about themselves and the world in which they live.

How do you practice? Do you even think about practice? I am regularly reminding my clients to step out of the dance of daily “doing” and move up to the balcony for some work on their business. On my visit to the Paris Opera with Edilia Gänz, Oliver Radtke, and Aparna Bhasin, we visited the practice room where dancers could practice on the same angled floor they would experience on the stage (The Paris Opera stage as a 5% grade). I was convicted. Usually I ask my clients to step off the stage to observe. I usually don’t ask them to step off the stage to practice. And then there was this practice room. Its beauty and attention to detail elevated the idea of practice. It was more beautiful and approachable than the actual stage and made me think that perhaps practice might be more important than the performance itself. So, here is my question: What new skill, behavior, or mindset are you currently practicing? Are you giving it a Paris Opera Rehearsal Room level of importance? #practice, #leadership, #parisopera, #adaptiveleadership

Friday Arts … the world is still not improving, so let’s keep talking about other things that are more fun! Springboard Opera had its first night out last weekend. And what a night it was. The first ever Springboard Opera Gala in fabulous Brisbane. And in the spirit of doing it differently, it was opera, but not opera. Some, but not all, of the Springboard Opera young (and talented) human beans were introduced to Brisbane in a fabulous star-studded night of music, theatre and general cool-ness. If you missed out, you’ll have to wait for the next Springboard Thing. And because no man is an island – thanks for the words, John Donne – we are not so much creating an arts organisation as a 21st century Arts Ecosystem that thrives on innovation. Ecosystems imply lots of interconnectedness. Between all the parts. Side-to-Side and Front-to-Back. So the innovation needs to flow Side-to-Side and Front-to-Back. And to make this work, all those parts matter equally. One of the things that was said at the Gala was “Singing optional”. That is because we need skills and INNOVATION everywhere. And with that – a bit of fractured Dr Suess, this time – Oh, the places We’ll go! If you are up for a bit of Amazeballs stuff… Come down and see us at https://lnkd.in/gXgNVTGg – it is going to be WILD! Singing Optional. #Future #TransformationalLeadership #LeadershipDevelopment #Directors #Technology #Performingarts #YourNetworkForLife Leslie Martin Luisa Tarnawski Gheorja Haidley
