'Tis the season for AGMs and a point in the year to reflect and look ahead. For EuropaBio - the European Association for Bioindustries, the past year has seen a welcome amplification of biotechnology within policy makers' priorities and its recognition within legislation. A critical economic technology, NZIA, STEP, plus the arrival of a detailed Initiative 'Boosting biotech & biomanufacturing in the EU' which will shape the Commission to come. It's significance has also been recognised within legislative proposals, such as the #GPL, where the importance of incentivising and protecting biotech innovation improved a first draft from levels that would have driven innovation from the EU. The #NGT legislation also holds the promise of an empowered EU but with both files, there's a long way to go to ensure that Europe achieves its ambitions. EuropaBio achieves this with its Members, and we were delighted to welcome new faces to the Board, plus new company and association Members from across countries and sectors, reflecting the diversity and depth of biotechnology across sectors. We look ahead to a big year for biotech and thank all the people who help create the pathway with us.

AusBiotech and Life Sciences Queensland Ltd (LSQ) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to strengthen collaboration and drive Australia’s life sciences industry forward.   AusBiotech CEO Rebekah Cassidy and LSQ Acting CEO Dr Ryan Parlett signed the MOU at #AusBio24.   This agreement with LSQ represents a strategic commitment to support the growth and resilience of Australia’s life sciences ecosystem. The MOU outlines an ambitious framework for cooperation, emphasising member engagement, knowledge exchange, and a unified approach to sector advocacy.    "By working together, we can leverage our combined strengths to advance research, support our members, and ultimately improve health outcomes for all Australians. 📡 #BioVersys delivers further great news in 2024: announcing that it has joined the EU-funded RespiriNTM programme, and its broad-spectrum NTM project now has access to up to €2 million in non-dilutive funding. 🌟 BioVersys’ NTM candidates are derived from the company’s proprietary Ansamycin Chemistry platform and are being developed to address difficult-to-treat Mycobacterium avium complex (MAC) and Mycobacterium abscessus subspecies (MAB) infections.   🌟 BioVersys taps into key expertise of the established RespiriNTM consortium members and will lead development of its candidates through preclinical and clinical studies.   🙏 BioVersys is very grateful to the Innovative Health Initiative (IHI), for the 2nd time, in that following on from the success of #TRICTB, the IHI has decided through #RespiriNTM, to fund a second BioVersys project, this time development of its broad-spectrum NTM candidates.
