International Power-to-X Hub’s Post

🌍 Exciting dialogue with Nepal at the #BETD25! At the Berlin Energy Transition Dialogue last week, the PtX Hub had the pleasure of engaging in a meaningful dialogue with a delegation from Nepal about their ambitions to produce #PtX products. The delegation, led by Mr Suresh Acharya, Secretary of the Ministry of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation (MoEWRI), and H.E. Dr Shail Rupakheti, Nepalese Ambassador in Berlin, highlighted the strong business case for e-fertiliser (ammonia fertiliser produced with #greenhydrogen) in Nepal: ✅ Green energy potential: With its abundant #hydropower resources, Nepal boasts a green grid and is on track to achieve overcapacity in renewable power. ✅ Agricultural significance: #Agriculture is the backbone of the Nepalese economy, employing 60% of the labor force and contributing 24% to GDP. ✅ Fertiliser challenges: Currently, Nepal relies entirely on fertiliser imports from India, facing frequent shortages and delays during critical growing seasons. In a productive discussion with Frank Mischler, PtX Hub Director, we concluded that the best path forward is to first conduct a training session on #PtX and e-fertiliser, ensuring all stakeholders have a solid knowledge to make the potential a reality. Following this, a pre-feasibility study should gather data on Nepal's agricultural sector and current #fertiliser usage, laying the groundwork for discussions on private sector investment in #efertiliser production in Nepal. We are excited and ready to support this important endeavor! Let's work together to harness the potential of renewable energy for sustainable agriculture in Nepal! 🌱
