Jason McCarthy and Eileanoir Blair worked hard on this research, to ask "What's Causing the Nursing Supply Shortage in the Pacific Northwest". Could a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP), replace the Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) as the entry level education requirement for nurse practitioners? Will this move happen by 2025? There is a lot of conversation around this topic and several major nursing organizations, including the American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN) and the National Organization of Nurse Practitioner Faculties (NONPF), are working to move the entry-level requirement for APRN roles, including nurse practitioner, from the MSN to the DNP by 2025. IMO I doubt this change would actually happen by 2025 since each state board of nursing determines the entry-level education needed for an NP license, but this change could still be around the corner. #nursingcareers #nursepractitioner
