🛑 STOP getting lost in Manhattan, ffs If you've been wandering NYC like a clueless tourist, this guide is your new bible. The Manhattan grid system isn't rocket science, but nobody ever explains it properly. The keys to navigating the city like you actually belong here: 🔹 5th Ave divides East from West - addresses start at 1 on both sides and increase as you move away 🔹 Avenue traffic flows: • East Side: "NOM" - North Odd Madison + “LES” Lex Even South • West Side: "ENOS" - Even North, Odd South • Park Avenue goes in BOTH directions 🔹 Streets are simple: "OWEE" - Odd West, Even East 🔹 Building numbers tell you exactly where you are: • 5th-6th Ave: 1-99 • 6th-7th Ave: 100-199 • 7th-8th Ave: 200-299 • 5th-Madison: 1-25 • Madison-Park: 25-50 🔹 Buildings on north side of street = odd numbers, south side = even numbers Most importantly - anything below Houston is complete chaos from 1600s Dutch colonization.
