Reusable hygiene products is something we all want and need - At least the EU circular economy action plan is demanding so and an increasing number of conscious consumers are asking and paying for it. But what most of us don't see - this paradigm shift needs more than political manifestation. It requires a lot of research and new developments on the fibre and textile side to deliver a new wave of resuable hygiene products fit for mass adoption. Today's consumers are used to the high performance of single use products and therefore textiles need be made fit for reusability. Sumo is dedicated to that mission and so are the brilliant reasearchers and engineers at the Saxon Textile Research Institute. I had the privilege of presenting at the STFI Thementag on “solutions for the circular textile economy”. It was a day filled with meaningful discussions about transforming the textile industry towards a more sustainable future. Together with experts like Dr. Jörg Morgner Managing Director of Tefama, Rolf Heimann - CEO of hessnatur stiftung | Institute for Applied Sustainability Stiftung, and Patrick Engel Head of Nonwovens Saxon Textile Research Institute, we delved into topics ranging from advanced textile recycling techniques to strategies for fostering a circular economy in the industry. Under the moderation of Johannes Leis, the exchange of knowledge and expertise highlighted how brave R&D and open innovation with industry partners can lead to unexpected solutions which will help us to get there. Very grateful I met Alexandra Veit, Meike Onnen and Sophia Worbes who push sustainability foward with their experise and praxis every day. I’m grateful to the STFI team, with special thanks to Dr. Heike Illing-Günther and all the participants for creating such an engaging platform to share insights and learn from one another. Argentina and France continued their record-breaking goals, closing 2024 with zero accidents. Our sustainable portfolio, plastic-free, 100% recyclable mono-material capsules and closures , now includes the Ecap and Tin Lite range, specially designed to lower carbon emissions by 55% and 80% respectively while maintaining funcionality and premium quality. 🤝 Social Governance: We strengthened our social impact through collaboration with local communities. In Laguardia, we partnered with the town council for a sustainability day, supporting environmental initiatives and making meaningful donations to key projects. These achievements are a testament to the dedication of our teams, the trust of our partners, and the support of our clients. The study visit for the TEXAD project is ongoing in Prato, Italy.  During the meeting several topics concerning municipal policies for textile waste management will be adressed. The program of the day included a study visit to Marini industrie. Marini Industrie is doing its part in trying to eliminate hazardous chemical groups from the fashion production. The day also included a visit to TRAFI CREATIVITA TESSILE S.R.L. Trafi has always developed new techniques to obtain textile products with particular characteristics that could satisfy the requests for innovation in the fashion sector as regards multicolor dyeing. During the study visit the guests from the TEXAD project also got to learn and se more at Gida, The textile museum of Prato, and talked about consumer and business awareness regarding textile waste and consumption.
