For our September membership spotlight, we are thrilled to introduce you to Randall Andres. Randall is currently a P3 at CNUCOP, one our student representatives, and CNU's APhA-ASP co-president. Please see his answers to some questions below to learn more about him. 1. How long have you been a member of CPhA/SVPhA? • This is my 3rd year as a member of CPhA/SVPhA. 2. How do you define success? • I define success as doing the best that one can do and growing from it. 3. What do you enjoy most about pharmacy? • I enjoy being able to help patients live healthier lives, whether through the teaching opportunities provided during patient counseling, or in the conversations about the importance of their maintenance medications when speaking to them about adherence. 4. What can you not live without? • I cannot live without the love and support of my family. With the stresses of pharmacy school and work, it would be hard to imagine how I could handle it without my wife to help support and encourage me to push forward, and my son to motivate me to be better for their sake. 5. Why did you originally pursue pharmacy? • I joined pharmacy as a means to understand medicine better and help my parents and grandparents to use medications more safely. Coming from a family without much medical understanding, but requiring multiple maintenance medications, I wanted to be a better resource for them and others like them. 6. What do you like to do on your spare time? • I like to spend time with my 6-month-old son and my wife either at home or travelling.

Tailored care to suit your primary care specific needs. Our CEO Valeed Ghafoor discussing an example of CKD management where the condition is to be entirely managed by AHPs freeing up GP time. #primarycare #generalpractitioner #ARRS #PCN

Excellent session today chaired by Dr Dean Eggitt. Who asked some excellent questions around efficiency, continuity and the role of PAs in primary care. Part of the session was in analysing skill matrixes and noting areas of weakness with practical solutions for how these might be overcome. We shared an example of our CKD decision aid allowing our AHP to manage CKD effectively allowing us to free up our GPs to handle more appropriate matters. #managementinpractice #CKD #primarycare #PCN #ARRS General Practice Specialists Ltd providing bespoke and tailored solutions for your primary care needs, GP led and ARRS funded!

When it comes to answering the question "What do you do?" It gets complicated*! In a week I could be coaching a client to excel on the stage. Helping someone get over their fear of networking and that elevator pitch. Training business owners on no cost marketing. Networking via my confidential mastermind group and sharing leads that lead to hundreds of thousands of pounds of new business. I could be helping someone set up a blog or write their first book and get a publisher to take them seriously. I could be working with a really stressed out team who have stupid deadlines right now and are working silly hours, so they work less and get more done with less stress. I could be talking about overwhelm or I could be talking about how to be confident. Or I could be email coaching on one of my 14 courses. So, what do I do? *To say it's an honour to work with Julia is an understatement. Her dedication to her customers, mission and business are unparalleled. Watch this space as Julia is doing amazing things...I'm just the cheerleader! Well, let's just say it doesn't fit on a business card! So I mostly go by Author, Mentor and Cheerleader - and as I heard said many times today, kick butter - not sure I'm putting that on a business card! What do you do?
Many thanks to #FrenkelToppingGroup for giving me the opportunity to share my story. Thanks to my financial settlement I have an index linked income for the rest of my life, giving me opportunities others less fortunate can only dream of. Richard Fraser negotiated my settlement thanks to my late father Bryan Wingfield for negotiating on my behalf. Thank you Pa, willl always be indebted to you. My journey continues, thanks to the amazing team at #NationalSpinalInjuriesCentre at Stoke Mandeville. International nurses day past me by, but I would particularly like to thank my surgeon Rebecca Shirley for putting me back together, Emil MOGA in SPOP for looking after me, Dr Jane Duff, Sally Reffold, Jane Stanbridge & Ali Jamous I wouldn't be here without you. Goes without saying Mandie Holgate deserves a medal for putting in the hours. Thanks also to Stephanie Webster and Alison Taylor for challenging me to stand out in the crowd

This is great news. The PLACEMENT Trial explores the optimum use of #perineural local anaesthetic infusions for #analgesia at the time of lower limb amputation. The trial is lead by Dave Bosanquet and the clinical trials team University of Cardiff, Wales.
We're delighted to announce that an important trial milestone was reached this morning, with our 200th participant randomised! Thanks to Cezar Sabbagh, Rajiv Malhotra, Lilian Wajero & team at NHS University Hospitals of Liverpool Group for randomising both the 1st PLACEMENT participant of 2025 & the 200th participant today! Thanks also to Athanasios (Thanos) Saratzis, Nikesh Dattani & team University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust & Chris Twine & team at North Bristol NHS Trust for randomising participants in the first week of January that helped us reach this goal. PLACEMENT has a big year ahead, as we are still a long way off our target of 650 participants, but it is important to celebrate successes along the way. We would also like to take this opportunity to say a huge thanks to our active sites, co-applicants, committee members & project team for all your hard work and continued support. We look forward to sharing the news of our 250th and 300th randomisations in the not too distant future!
