Good read below. CVS, Walgreens with massive closures. The 'minute clinics' / trying to add in the physician visits on site is not working out either. They are scrambling to build profits back into their pharmacies too----(Ironically CVS owning Caremark)-- PBM's are the big problem!! The way they reimburse pharmacies--- and look at them—-they’re all shutting left and right because they’re losing money on prescriptions and they can’t sustain the model. Change MUST happen or patients are not going have anywhere to get their prescriptions anymore!! Whats the plan--- are we going to start just shipping scheduled drugs to people in the mail? How about the fact that a lot of medication’s have to be stored in between certain temperature ranges --never mind the ones that need to be refrigerated, otherwise they lose their efficacy. There was an article I shared not so long ago regarding problems with mail order drugs being shipped. In the very cold weather, you could be shipping in these trucks and it could fall well below freezing in a many areas in this country. Then in the summertime, from you’re talking about inside these trucks can get to 120° plus. Not good for many medications. This all may be good news for the future pharmacy. In my opinion the government has to wake up and realize now the chains are even closing stores in massive volumes, on top of the loss of independent pharmacies. For entrepreneurs, it does leave pharmacy deserts where you may be able to make an impact. And with the incoming administration, lets hope the truth is finally shed on the abuse and change occurs. #pharmacy #pharmacylife #communitypharmacy #independentpharmacy #pharmacists #pbm #pbms #chainpharmacy

Elevance Health's PBM CarelonRx enter a definitive agreement to acquire the Kroger Specialty Pharmacy biz. However, the latter will still retain and operate their in-store pharmacies and 'Little Clinics'/walk-in care sites. The deal is estimated to finalize and close in 2H24. Kroger SP has been a top-notch provider of complex medicines and their people have delivered on outstanding patient, pharmacy, and physician support over the years. I sure hope that under the Elevance umbrella, the same level of excellence, commitment, and quality remains. Elevance is truly acquiring a gem in the SP world! In the background of this news is the tumult of legal filings and FTC scrutiny surrounding the possible Kroger/Albertsons's mega-merger, a deal upwards of $25B!!! 😮 #Elevance #CarelonRx #KrogerSpecialtyPharmacy #SpecialtyPharmacy #PBM #PharmacyBenefitManagers #Healthcare
