🌍 New Blog Post: Cumbersome but Essential - The #FfD Process
As we eagerly anticipate the release of the Zero Draft of the #FfD4 Outcome Document, German Institute of Development and Sustainability (IDOS) has launched a new blog series on the Fourth International Conference on Financing for Development (#FfD4).
In the first post, my colleagues Kathrin Berensmann, Clara Brandi, Sören Hilbrich, and I explore the challenges and opportunities of the #FfD process. In particular, #FfD4 stands out as an inclusive UN process, offering underrepresented stakeholders a voice in shaping global development finance discussions. While decisions on concrete policies are likely to be rare, the process has the potential to shape the international development cooperation agenda for the years to come. In this respect, the process should be used to foster a global narrative that sees the financing of sustainable futures as a shared responsibility and opportunity.
The #FfD4 can also help to mobilize the political will to push forward and provide new perspectives to reform processes that mainly take place in other fora, such as at the #G20 and the Annual and Spring Meetings of the IMF and the World Bank, including in the areas of international tax cooperation, the reform of the multilateral development banks and the resolution of the pressing debt crisis.
