Not all wounds are visible. 💔 Today is Veteran’s Day—a time to honor those who served. But beyond the medals and parades, many veterans carry something unseen: trauma. It doesn’t wear a uniform, but it follows them home. Trauma doesn’t fade with time; it reshapes lives. For veterans, and so many others, it’s a daily struggle. It impacts families, relationships, and careers. In the workplace, we may not know who’s quietly fighting this battle. A little empathy, a little patience, can go a long way. Today, let’s honor veterans not only with gratitude, but with understanding. How can we build workplaces and communities that support those with unseen wounds? #VeteransDay #MentalHealthMatters #SupportOurVeterans

Memorial Day, from the perspective of a veteran, is a solemn day of remembrance and honor. It’s a day to reflect on the sacrifices of those who have fallen in the line of duty, protecting the freedoms and values we hold dear. For veterans who have experienced the realities of war firsthand, Memorial Day carries a profound significance that goes beyond the typical celebrations and gatherings. It’s a day marked by memories of comrades who never made it home, whose laughter and courage are remembered in the quiet moments of a veteran’s heart. It’s a time to think about the families left behind, the empty seats at dinner tables, and the personal stories of bravery that ended too soon. Veterans understand the weight of loss and the price of freedom in a way that is deeply personal and often painful. Memorial Day is not about the living; it’s about honoring those who have given their lives for something greater than themselves. It’s about the men and women buried in cemeteries across the nation, who were more than just soldiers; they were loved ones, friends, and family. For veterans, the day may also bring a mix of emotions, including pride in their service and a sense of camaraderie with those who understand the cost of war. Yet, it can also be a challenging time, as the focus on military service and sacrifices can trigger memories and emotions related to their own experiences. As a nation, we can honor the true meaning of Memorial Day by participating in commemorative activities, observing moments of silence, and supporting organizations that provide resources and support to veterans and their families. It’s a day to ensure that the legacy of the fallen is not forgotten but is carried forward with respect and gratitude for the freedoms their sacrifices have secured.

Happy Memorial Day! The question is often asked "Should I Thank a Veteran on Memorial Day?". Well, we think it's appropriate to thank a Veteran for their service on any day of the calendar year...however, it is a complex question. It is essential to understand the distinction between these two observances to ensure our gratitude is appropriately directed. It is not customary to say “thank you” to veterans on Memorial Day, but there are meaningful ways to honor the sacrifices made. Click the link below to take a look at the difference between Memorial Day and Veterans Day and how we can best pay tribute to veterans on each. https://hubs.ly/Q02sXV9B0 #brossandfrankel #brossfrankel #disabilitylawyers #disabilityattorneys #socialsecuritydisability #SSD #SSDI #longtermdisability #LTD #veteransdisability #veteransaffairs #veteransbenefits #workerscompensation #personalinjury #MemorialDay

Veterans Think Differently—Here's Why By Joe Reynolds People do not always accept or understand what you do; but they most likely will embrace why you do it. To me, understanding why inspires trust, loyalty, and respect. Every Veterans Day, and in fact, every day of the year, we are reminded of the why our heroes do what they do. It is our chance to give back, and we should. Why? Every one of us faces crucial decisions in life—those pivotal fork-in-the-road, "why" moments where the path diverges and we must choose which direction to take. For veterans, these moments often arise in the most challenging and uncertain of circumstances. The path they end up taking in the face of a why dilemma is the result of a gut feeling, an internal compass that tells them it is the right thing to do, even when the mission is difficult or dangerous. In the military, decisions are often made alone, carried out selflessly by our military members in the face of immense pressure and danger. These choices are not just about protecting our country; they are about protecting our way of life. Each and every military member has a story to tell; they are inspiring and deeply meaningful. We all want to help in our individual ways. Mine is start my own effort which I call, Why They Do It. The goal is to preserve and share the powerful stories of the brave men and women who have served our nation. Through their service, they have preserved our freedoms, often in life-threatening situations that many of us will never fully understand. Their stories are not just for them; they are for all Americans, to foster a deeper bond of understanding and appreciation. Veterans' contributions are often under-reported and unappreciated. I hope to change that paradigm. It is time to challenge the fading notion of public service as a civic duty. Veterans serve with a purpose, and we should encourage others to find their why as well. Join us in raising awareness about the contributions of veterans and the real impact they have made in securing the freedoms we often take for granted. How can we do that? Inspire others to take action. Encourage them to pay it forward with acts of community service—big or small—because giving back does not just help others, it feels good, too. Next time you think about thanking a veteran for their service, pause for a moment. Think about why you are thanking them and start a dialog. And remember that Veterans Day is not only recognizing one day of gratitude for their service, but a commitment to understanding why they serve. Joe Reynolds is a Vietnam Veteran (Army).
