🌊 Aligning for Ocean-Climate Solutions 🌊 The SCALE MRV Joint Innovation Project aligns with the Transforming Climate Action (TCA) research program. #SCALE #MRV is a pioneering initiative to advance scalable monitoring, reporting, and verification (MRV) solutions for marine carbon dioxide removal (mCDR). TCA is one of the most intensive investigations ever undertaken into the ocean's role in climate change that OFI administers under leadership by Dalhousie University. Both initiatives focus on the critical intersection of oceans, climate, and people, contributing valuable data to CIOOS Atlantic, enhancing the impact of our research, and driving forward innovative solutions for marine carbon dioxide removal (mCDR). In this way we will advance ocean-based climate solutions that support global net-zero goals and a sustainable future. 🌍 Learn more: https://ow.ly/YLcR50VrGJh Project Lead: Eric Siegel Research Principal Investigator: Christopher Whidden With the invaluable expertise and contributions of our partners: atdepth Nortek Open Ocean Robotics Pro-Oceanus Systems RBR Oceankind To learn more about CIOOS: https://cioos.ca
This is the kind of initiative that gives us hope for a better future! As a team of teenagers passionate about technology and the environment, we're exploring how robotics can contribute to ocean conservation. Our project, T-Bubble, is a small, self-inflating system that helps researchers locate marine tags more easily by bringing them to the surface with a bright, inflatable marker — especially useful in rough sea conditions. It’s amazing to see large-scale projects like SCALE MRV and TCA working at the intersection of climate and oceans, just like we aim to do (in our own small way!). The focus on data, innovation, and international collaboration is exactly what inspires us to keep learning, building, and dreaming. We believe that even small solutions — when combined with big ones — can help make a real difference. 💡
