New York State Office of Mental Health’s Post

South Beach Psychiatric Center graduated the inaugural class of its nurse residency program today. The six graduates spent a year working alongside experienced nurses at the facility and doing additional class work to increase their training in the field. Established by OMH in 2021, the nurse residency program is now operating at all the agency’s psychiatric centers. Addressing the graduates today, Dr. Sullivan spoke of the critical role they are serving in helping New Yorkers living with mental illness and the importance of building healthy communities for them to live in through recovery. “You are a piece of that continuum,” she told the graduates, “so please be very proud of that role.”
