I watched the HPD oversight hearing last week, and I’m disgusted. I have two friends living in unlivable conditions; leaks, broken infrastructure, zero repairs. HPD says they’re “backlogged,” but that doesn’t explain why one friend is being taken to eviction court just for withholding rent on an uninhabitable apartment. The city’s legal machine is moving full speed to kick people out, but doing nothing to fix the buildings. This isn’t just negligence, it’s what slumlords do. HPD, you’re acting like slumlords. I would look at my page for shining examples.
