I’m excited to highlight that the 4th AutoCFD Conference on the latest advancements in Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) for automotive aerodynamics will be held on September 26th and 27th at Queen’s University Belfast. This year, a major update to the conference format includes the introduction of five Technical Focus Groups (TFGs), which will explore: • Meshing • High-Performance Computing (HPC) • Scale Resolving • AI/Machine Learning • Noise Factors and Uncertainty Quantification Participants will focus on two key test cases: • Case 1: Windsor Body – a simplified squareback body • Case 2: DrivAer Notchback A/B Study – a complex, real-car-like body, with and without a wind deflector feature upwind of the front wheels Having participated in the 2nd (2021) and 3rd (2022) AutoCFD conferences, I’m proud to share that our team has contributed 14 submissions to this year’s event—5 based on Case 1 and 9 based on Case 2. Our submissions primarily support the HPC and Noise TFGs, covering extensive grid convergence studies, with cases ranging from 9.7 million voxels and 0.246 million time steps to 625 million cells and 1.3 million time steps. We’ve also conducted turbulence model studies, including uRANS (K-Omega-SST) and hybrid-RANS-LES (SST-DDES) models, along with several additional runs focused on the Noise TFG. The attached animation showcases the transient surface pressure and q-criterion vortices from our 670 million cell “Case 2 A” pre-study run. I’m looking forward to presenting our final results at the conference in Belfast on September 26th, and to engaging with this professional community. Please note that registration is still open! I look forward to seeing everyone in Belfast soon! #autocfd4 #pacefish #numericsystems #lbm #gpus

Happy to see! 670 M elements ... It's too heavy load on the computation resources/power. What should be the configuration of instance (virtual machine's configuration like, vcpu, ram .etc) for this investigation? How much CPU time does it require to achieve stationary state for this work? It would be better if you share more info about the work! #rajcfd

@Eugene: Indeed very nice visualization. What kind of wall model did you use? Björn

Thanks very much for your contributions - the high quality contributions of simulation data from partners such as yourselves are what make the AutoCFD workshops such a valuable learning experience for all: More than the sum of its parts! Looking forward to seeing you in Belfast!
