Enhancing Communication in Biohybrid Systems: Interesting Bell Labs research on physiological amplifiers, enhancing the detection of biological signals, improving the interface between biological tissues and electronic devices. This advancement allows for precise monitoring and control of biological components e.g. within robotic systems, leading to better communication between biological and electronic parts and resulting in more efficient and responsive functionalities. By integrating high-fidelity, miniaturized, and energy-efficient #physiological #amplifiers, the challenge of merging living tissues with robotic technology is addressed. This enhances robots' ability to interpret and respond to biological signals, with applications in medical #robotics, environmental monitoring, and #industrial #automation. Excited to share a simulation from our latest research on 𝐌𝐨𝐝𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠, 𝐒𝐢𝐦𝐮𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐨𝐥 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐃𝐨𝐮𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐃𝐞𝐥𝐭𝐚 𝐒𝐮𝐫𝐠𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐑𝐨𝐛𝐨𝐭. In this video, you can see the robot tracking a point moving in a circular trajectory, demonstrating its potential for high-precision tasks in medical applications. Many of our most impressive physical feats are possible thanks to the cooperation between our skin’s sensory functions and our muscle’s motor functions. What kind of achievements could robots perform with the same cohesion between sensing and action? With a new soft robot, researchers at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill are exploring the possibilities in the medical space. The implantable bots, primarily composed of two layers simulating skin and muscle, can sense and adapt to electrical activity, motion, and other dynamic aspects of the body. In a recent study, the researchers showcased their robots’ therapeutic and diagnostic potential across several model organs, including a mouse model of heart disease.
