ANOTHER PIECE TO THE “GOING IN-HOUSE” PUZZLE! Did you know there is a “dead zone” of marketability for in-house opportunities? Yes, it’s a thing and better if you know it before you get there. #lateralhiring #legalcareers #cardinalsearch

Yes! One more objection in-house hiring attorneys have to law firm lawyers 10+ years of experience is a belief (often misguided) that the Counsel or junior Partner doesn't do his/her own work and won't be able to adjust to in-house life without associates to delegate to. I always work to dispel this notion, but it's a widely-held concern. Not to mention the frequently repeated mantra that "we would really prefer someone with in-house experience." No question that the sweet spot for moving in-house is usually with 5-8 years of experience. (By the way, I've been trying to will myself into doing videos, but you've set the bar high!)

Great insights Nicole Donnelly - It’s easy to make many of the assumptions you point out here. Your video breaks down why those assumptions aren’t compelling to companies.
