Do you know someone who is hard of hearing and struggles to participate in meetings? A few pointers that will assist: BEFORE THE MEETING Send an agenda, including topics, times allocated, presenters and links to any pre-reading. Include a request on each meeting invitation for attendees to contact you via email or phone if they have accessibility requirements. DURING THE MEETING Ask attendees to speak one at a time, stating their names each time before speaking. Introduce others by name. Speak clearly and articulate your words at a steady pace. Ask attendees to mute their microphones when not speaking. Ensure all presentations are verbally described. Give everyone an opportunity to contribute to discussions, and keep in mind that captions lag behind speech. If they are comfortable, ask participants to turn their videos on before speaking.
