Outdated technology remains a significant challenge for most emergency call centers. According to the NENA: The 9-1-1 Association / Carbyne Pulse of 9-1-1 Survey, more than three-quarters of ECCs have experienced service outages that impeded 9-1-1 calls. Fewer than 27% can communicate over text messaging services. Only 24% can accept incident imagery, such as live video. The technology and standards needed to bring Next Generation 9-1-1 to every community are readily available. What's missing is the funding and political leadership to get it done.
