India’s deeptech sector holds immense promise, but its full potential can be realised only through long-term commitment. This was a major theme at Capital Connect 2025, where industry leaders emphasised the need for significant investments in artificial intelligence infrastructure, without which India risked falling behind global peers. Strategic funding structures will hold the key here. Fostering a long-term vision with investment cycles of 10+ years for deeptech funds will enable investments in critical infrastructure like graphic processing units and data centres, and in the development of domestic large language models. Now is the time to take decisive action and catalyse India's emergence as a global deeptech powerhouse. September has been an eventful month, highlighted by my experience at a deep tech summit in South Korea. Building strong relationships within industry and academia in global markets enables us to fuse theory to practice through the power of technology. We had an opportunity to speak about how the fourth industrial revolution is taking the manufacturing floors by storm. #industry4 #makeinindia #digitisation #industrialrevolution #deeptech

Notes from Deep Tech Forum BLR 24 Longer post with some other observations on tumbles.run I swung by the Deep Tech event hosted by Ankur Capital last week. Some thoughts - For a event branded Deep Science, there was little technical talk, and a lot of panelists focused on business development, IP protection, and especially fundraising. Ah fundraising. There was a liberal amount of advice given about what founders should do and should not, and perhaps not enough on what VCs can do and do not. Overall I’d say it remains the case that most Indian deeptech founders are better over setting up a Delaware C-corp and raising from the States. Space and semicon are likely the only exceptions. Related - everyone probably wants to say they invest in deeptech bc it’s sexy + feels impactful but few appear willing to do so early enough to really matter. What especially seems missing is a willingness to bet on unconventional founders with ambitious visions on truly frontier (and not just hardware or infra) deeptech. This is unfortunate because this is where significant leapfrogging and game-changing value likely is. Ultimately, founders are the ones will build the paradigm-shifting company that makes obvious sense in hindsight but appears “preposterous” in the present. I’m as bullish as ever on the Indian deeptech founder but a tad bearish (at least in the short-term) on the Indian deeptech ecosystem.

2moI agree, but the hard truth is that VC's and organizations are not ready to invest in startups that have done research , even built a small prototype and have achieved benchmark results but they lack traction and early stage revenue which is again due to lack of resources/funds to bring product to the market
